Apparatus in center console??
What is this for? Someone has done a nice job building a console extension. Why?

Pretty big cup, gallon?, what is the rod & platform for? I figured it was to hold the baby in place. Clamp for the feet, plate to sit on, rod inserted to keep from sliding around.

I think it's an OE option. Looks stock to me.

I'm also guessing cup holder. They probably flip the plate over so the post part sticks in the old lock/release button hole to create a flat platform to put their drink on. It's creative, but not my style.

Bird Console extension and Cup holder option
The Bird Product sold for long time in Excellence/Pano. The Hinge repair made by Kludge Engineering, The cup holder modified to 50 Shades of Porsche Gray.

That was my original post on 6-Speed. I went there first and wouldn't you know, the answer would come from Rennlist. 
I have yet to try this...thing as a cup holder. The base is not a great fit. The metal bracketing almost looks like some hand-cuff-like thing you would use to transport a prisoner. Thanks for the feedback.
