What RPM Do You Drive At
#77
Sure, but by how much? When I said lower, I should have said “significantly lower.” Folks online complaining about rough engine problems and smoke at cold start are seeing ARFs like 8 or 9:1. Some are having trouble starting at all when it’s near 7:1 (flood condition). Others have posted AFRs in the 12-14:1 range during cold start on YouTube.
As someone already suggested in this thread, perhaps since we don’t know what the AFR for cold start is on this M96 engine, we can look for someone who has collected actual data.
EDIT: Durametric can probably do this

I really doubt you're gonna see a/f on a torque app with the narrow band sensors on these cars. At best you'll see voltage, but its gonna be bouncing all around which makes it difficult to get useful info. A wideband sensor is really the only way to pull this off with any legitimacy

Driving at constant speed on the highway is the best thing you can do for your engine. I hope to keep my 911 for another 70-100k Miles, bringing me to 200k Miles. I care about keeping my car healthy until I can afford a turbo. If I am going to get my Turbo, and my bigger house, I need to be frugal so that I can achieve my goals while having fun in my 911.
Not sure how Variocam effects this.

Also, VarioCam kick in at around 1300-1400 RPM, and stays there until 5500 RPM on the mk1 engines.
VarioCam Plus on the mk2 engines is different.
