Frunk trim part - help
Get a new rubber grommet, then with your old bolt, go to Ace and get a nice stainless steel phillips head screw and washer the proper size. Did mine like that years ago and it still looks perfect.
Sorry for reviving this thread but am I missing something here. I noticed my rubber grommet was also bad (useless) on a recent filter change so I took the part number from here (999 500 092 00) and ordered it. The part that came looks identical to all picture of that part on various websites. The screw can thread onto it and and can see the brass threads at the bottom...so I'm 99% I have the right part. However, If I place it in the hole where the old one was there is nothing to hold the rubber grommet in the hole. The old one(s) appear flanged and you would have to press fit them in....this one is just straight. So sure, you can put the screw in but its no more in place than it was before changing the grommet.
What am I missing?!
EDIT:
I JUST figured out how this works and had I actually fully installed it ...it would have been obvious.
The well nut has extra length on it so that the threads will force the rubber shaft to expand (thus flanged) similar to how a butterfly bracket works.
That being said, I understand why it fails....it puts the rubber middles section under constant pressure...it WILL fail again.

I didn’t even bother getting OE replacement screws. They would probably rust and seize to the nuts again over time. I clipped in the large nylon insert used to what you screw in license plate mounts to the bumper (they fit perfectly in the existing hole), two number 10 x 1.5” or 2” (can’t remember) Phillips head screws and 1” x 1/8” fender washers. I had to drill the washer out as I wanted a snug fit on the screw. The screws and washers were stainless and I painted the top black. Just snug the screws down and they worked great.
