Default How do I disconnect the cruise cable from the throttle pedal?

I am replacing the carpet in my '99 996. I need to disconnect the cruise control cable from the accelerator pedal cluster to fit the carpet, but I'm not sure how the cable disconnects from the cluster. I see a junction with a knurled plastic piece that I can twist, but not sure how they are connected. Any advice on how to separate the cable? Thanks!

Is your '99 a C2 or C4? C4 is e-gas (electronic throttle); C2 is a physical cable.

Why disconnect the cable? The whole accelerator pedal comes out with one screw and a push upwards.

I have a '99, so it is the last analog 911! There is one cable that goes to the engine that runs under that carpet, but the cable from the cruise control unit runs over the carpet. I figured out how it comes apart (looked at the part on ebay), so was able to install the carpet. Thanks.
