ABS Wheel Sensor and Brake Wear Plug - Which way do the plugs go?
I disassembled my brakes and suspension to install various upgrades. I have everything back together but I am getting an ABS wheel sensor fault. When I unplugged the wheel sensor and brake wear sensor combination plug I did not keep track of which plug goes in which position. Several weeks later upon reassembling I found that there is no difference between each one...meaning they can be plugged in either position.
Can anyone tell me which position is supposed to be the wheel sensor and which is the brake wear sensor into the connector? One side is opposite the input harness and the other side is opposite the "sloped" part of the connector...those are the only reference points I can find.
Thanks in advance!

Maybe you can disconnect both. The brake pad wear warning light should then light up. Then just plug one of the sensors back in and it the warning goes away, that's the right spot.
Another thing you may want to check is one of the pins of the pad wear sensor (car harness side) should have a 5 v or 12v positive when the key is on accessories position.

Following up on this....there is a symbol molded into the plastic on the connector, visible when you lift up the metal clip. The side that the brake wear sensor goes into has a symbol that looks a like a brake disc. Tough to see unless you look for it. It's really tiny.

Aren't those two male plugs also different, sort of keyed to the female portion? Or am I just hallucinating.

ABS light will come on if you hook them up backwards. It's a great way to learn car control but I had to replace a rear subframe after my first unintentional attempt at it.

Good to know. I guess I just had dumb luck! I'll have to pay closer attention next time. Thanks!
