It DID come from the Matrix!! I felt like I went deep into a black hole , not to come out, doing that code. I only came out when it started to work !! lol

Before. Never use the radio/cd player anyway

assembling pieces

display installation The other display is just a filler for now. I'll figure something out later for that hole.

wiring up the inputs from the DME

Success!!
Success! Finally got around to completing the installation, an am very pleased. A few minor bobbles with the Arduino and it's code, but with PT3's help got it working. Thanks again!

Glad you got it installed and working !!

Is that one of those rare FSI IMSB Chip detectors? I don't know how sensitive that one is, but I for one believe strongly in the benefit of early chip detection.

Sure is: nothing better than knowing when your motor starts making (ferrous) metal. Not as critical driving vs. flying, but still worth the money.

That's the real deal. The idea of "early detection" kinda got smothered by all the catastrophic failures and "retrofit designs" and preventative maintenance development strategies.

Did you locate the pin #s using wire colors or trace from opening the connector?

I opened the connector to trace the wires. The pin numbers are on the connector face and shell, as I recall.

Now that you've nailed this project, will the next one be a transmission oil temp gauge??

lol...I'm not sure what my next project will be. Going to take a little time and do a track day Friday at Talladega Grand Prix Raceway, I sure a project will hit me soon.

I have purchased the above car from Mike A. Did some tweaking. Finding an odd behavior at higher temps, seems like erratic measurements. Otherwise seems to climb in a fairly linear fashion as temps warm up. Posted a video below. Any thoughts?

Try hooking the power and ground from the unused telephone connector behind the dash instead of going all the way to the DME, I remember stopping a surging value one time on another car with that.

You were on the right track. Read some info about arduino stating a chassis ground is not recommended. Instead I crimped the pin for the ground to have better contact. Problem seems to be resolved.
