If you did leather-to-sample, please read
Questions:
When you did leather interior to sample, did you start the process prior to build date? In other words, if you had a November build car, could you work out the sample and match months ahead, say in August? Or did the matching process start only at or near build date?
They mention in the order guides 3-6 months delay for this option. I find it hard to believe they could not match all the interior components in less than 30 days, and that you could start that process months ahead of build date, thereby having your car built without delay.
On your 996 with leather-to-sample, do the plastic bits that are normally matched to the leather matched to your color, or are they simply black?
Is the carpet matched to your sample as well?
Any other thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
TIA

Not yet sure I'd even do this, as I'm not so sure how long I'd keep the car, but I love the Guards Red 996 I have now, and I'd do it again, but the Savanna is such a crappy color (too much pumpkin, not enough tan) that I was shooting for a light tan I've seen on Ferrari, or even something I saw elsewhere.
But I need to know the answers, and I've yet to hear from any Porsche salesperson who knew 100% certain on any of it.
Thanks.

Eric,
The Exclusive people in Stuttgart deal with this, they have over 100 colours of leather on record. It does delay production, up tp 3 months. You still have to buy the large leather packs to complete the effect. My car has Maritime blue leather with black

Yes, seen Cinnamon and Natural Brown. Neither is what I'm after.
Saw a bimmer today that came damn close....beige/cream leather....
Ferrari had two beige colors I've seen. One is close to our Savanna, with more orange to it. Saw this years ago on a 348.
Second one was on a 360 I saw about a year ago. <drool>
NONE of the Porsche current leathers is what I'm after. But hey, I could live with Savanna if I had to, and with the way it sounds, that would look better with all the plastic in the right color. The money they get for the leather packages is absolutely disgusting.

Actually, if you have a look at the new Exclusive brochure Porsche just released, there's a 996 Targa with "Champagne" leather. It's a gorgeous light tan colour. I ouwl imagine it would look great on a Guards Red car.
