Having issues with the idle air control valve after working on the SAI change over valve and electronic valve. Got it all buttoned up and started her up and the car now will start Rev to 2000rpm and then start to quickly move up to 4000rpm. thought i had something messed up and checked everything, everything appears to be normal so i restart and does the same thing. I check the throttle cable (its a '99) and it is as it should be.
So i unhook the idle air control valve cable and start it up and no issue, car idle as it should. So it appears to be the sensor not being calibrated after doing maintenance. Does anyone know if there is an easy fix to this that i can try before i go and have to replace the it.

Remove TB, remove ICV and clean it throughly with carb cleaner, alcohol and Q-tips. It should be shiny clean inside. Take some leads and a 9V battery and cycle the valve back and forth. Should move smoothly and not hang up. I've cleaned mine out several times with good success. Gets black with guck and sticks.
So tested with a 9V and the solenoid is working and the valve operates. Cleaned it and the throttle body. And yet it still isnt working. Same problem of when its plugged in it goes to 4-5K and when unplugged standard idle.
I discovered one time after taking the TB off and putting it back on, the throttle cable was holding open ever so slightly causing the same symptoms as yours. I undid the cable from the TB then gave it a good hard pull. Turns out the sheath end of the cable "snaps" into the black plastic piece, it is behind and is very difficult to notice if the cable sheath is seated in the black plastic fulcrum piece. Check it out.
Possible to have a bad ICV. After checking everything once again, do a ECU/DME system reset by disconnecting the negative battery lead for a few minutes. That should put everything to default base values.
So unhooked the throttle cable and gave it a good pull and reattached, ensuring everything lined up and that solved the 4-5k idle problem. but it was still idling around 1.2-2k so unhooked batttery for a few minutes to reset DME. that solved the 2K idle problem.
Now it will start up sit at 1200rpm for a minute before lowering to 800-900rpm range. When i let off the throttle it will go to 1200rpm and stay there for about 10 secs before coming down to normal range. No CEL has popped up yet but ill take it out for a spin later and see if one will show up.
So drove it around some and letting off the gas was a pain due to it being unpredictable of will it return to normal idle or stay around 2000rpm. Code p0506 which basically says the idle valve is bad so i think im just going to cut my loses and order a new one since this one is probably 20 years old.
