MaxFlo vs. RSR
Now that I have suspension on the way (PSS9 due shortly) I would like to add an exhaust. I had RSR's on my 993 C2's and loved them. My TT had had the mufflers "gutted" to where from the rear the car sounds nice. But from inside as with most TT the car is way too quiet. I am concerned that RSR's might not improve the sound much. I understand Fabspeed Maxflo's are lounder and would provide more exhaust note, especially from inside the car. Any thoughts from those who have either system?

The CE light has been an issue with some people, for others it hasn't. Kinda of a strange beast. There's nothing wrong with the CE light coming on if you know why it is on.

I have the Fabspeed muffler bypasses with stock cats. Picks up some HP, loses some weight, and sounds pretty much like a TT with cat bypasses and aftermarket mufflers. Plus, the setup is smog legal, even here in California.

Doug,
Sounds like you've got the FVD CAT bypass and the Fabspeed MUFFLER bypass confused. The Fabspeed muffler bypass is very pleasant sounding, except for a sharp "bark" at cold start-up. After it warms a bit, this is gone.

Steve, Why did you choose the muffler bypass vs. the cat bypass. Any CEL problems. I am really confused as to the best way to go. What was the cost of the muffler bypass and does it provide a little "growl". My TT sounds like a Buick from inside the car. Mike w

Muffler bypass is cheaper (~$500 Vs ~$1800), has no CEL issues, ever, and is smog legal. Yes, it adds a nice sound. It adds some HP, but probably less than the cat bypass. If you're really brave and hard of hearing, do them both!

Steve, hate to keep going over this issue but sound is important to me. Will I be able to hear the exhaust with the windows closed and the A/C on? Also, How much time to install and how does the finished product look? Any misgivings about the bypass? thanks Mike W

At freeway speeds, I don't think you can hear it with the windows closed. especially with A/C. Sounds great with the window cracked a bit.
15 minute install, even for a doofus like me, and the Fabspeed tips fit the cutouts great, and are of high quality. I bought mine used from a fellow Rennlister, and the only issue I have is that my wife is pissed that I made the exhaust louder, after I promised I wouldn't do that. That cost me a Lexus.
