I bought these years ago for a project but ended up having my turbos rebuilt by Kevin into Hybrids . Now have sold my car. I have $1100 into them but to get them out of the garage I would like to get $600 for the pair. The story I got they had came off a '96 with 3000 mi. and sat on the shelf for the last 15 years . ( don't want to hijack you tread ) I have a bunch of stuff I plan to sell , was waiting more till spring to sell, Fabspeed Headers sport exhaust cats, Lots of Hoorier R7 s and H20's tires on 996 turbo wheels, stock ECU , harness bar , fire Ex , a couple sets of wheels GT3 etc .... Looking to clear out the garage. Ill post some adds soon. The question was brought up why I thought these had to be rebuilt and not just bolted on, after 15 years of sitting in a box I would think they would dry out being unused , so figured they needed to be rebuilt ? maybe someone like Kevin could chime in .

The problem with these is the cast iron section between the turbo and flange rots like wood!

I have sent these away before when they look good and after xrays they have been scrap.

Im muchos bucks down on used turbos!

As 911Pervy has mentioned, it's the center section bearing housing that is failing. Sad to see rebuilders reuse them to have them crack or leak. Since '95 you have 4 generations of casting design changes. My recommendation is NOT to buy 993TT cores, but to purchase low mile 996TT cores. If the actuator cans are rusted and not gold in color >>do not buy..

The above recommendation changes if your turbine housings are rotted and the gate is seized.

When looking to purchase 993TT cores, try to buy the '97 and later turbocharger. The bearing housing don't have thru bolt ears. The sump tanks bolts are not exposed to the elements.
