Mike J's 10th Annual pcarworkshop BBQ! - August 15th, 2015
This is a special event this year - the TENTH annual BBQ, I cannot believe I have been doing these events for 10 years straight - wow!
The Mike J's 10th annual shop day this year on Saturday, August 15, 2015.
This year's theme is "Giving Mike a BREAK", so the shop will be open but only light duty maintenance items that you can do yourselves with some tools, or with a little bit of assistance. No clutch jobs please .... we can do those on Sunday.
After last years RECORD 993 Pinning party (18 cars in 7 hours!) I realized I spent 10 hours in the shop and about 20 minutes visiting, so this year, given its a special anniversary, I figured it's time to mingle. That might reduce attendance ...
Like last year, we will be raising money for a charity. Last year we raised $500 and my company matched that with another $500 which means we contributed $1000 to two of the local Women's shelters that focus on battered woman (my daughter's choice!). That was FANTASTIC! This year I hope to continue that tradition!
Schedule:
9:00 - The shop is open for mechanical work, I will be down there setting up.
11:30 on - The BBQ will be fired up for lunch depending on the appetites etc (maybe earlier!!)
5:00 - wrap-up
Directions:
Click here for a map to 5691 Bessborough Drive Burnaby, British Columbia
Hopefully the weather will be great! Even if it's raining the shop is large enough to have at least two-three cars undercover.
It would be great if those coming would either post or PM me so I have an idea on how much supplies/food we will be needing...
This is a Porsche event, not a 993 only event, and all the models are welcome of course.
Cheers,
Mike

You know what, I think it may be fun to set-up the TIG and have people try it during the BBQ - we would be sharpening a lot of tungsten, but it may be educational for someone to at least try it ... hmm.
Cheers,
Mike

Trying it would be awesome! Actually, even just watching you do it would be fun (and probably safer given that I've never picked up a welding torch in my life).

Only TWO days to go! Gotta get supplies tomorrow - forecast is marginal but you never know, and there is plenty of room in the shop undercover for the BBQ and corresponding BS that follows ... :-)
Cheers,
Mike
