Default 993 twin turbo engine value

1996 993 twin turbo engine value
I have a spare motor that I was going to use in an early 911 race car.
The engine has been rebuilt, new turbos, new harness, dme, headers. Not stock, but complete ready to bolt in.
What is the current market price range?
Thanks,
Tenzin

Maybe $5,000 at the most. I'll give you $6,000 for it right now :-)

Seriously, I would bet at least 25k for a complete engine, and up from there depending on mods/build.

I was thinking $30-$35k+ for a complete, rebuilt, engine with turbos and all.

The 993 turbo car prices are $150k+, I thought the engine might fetch upwards of $50K. I have been out of the scene for a while, and the early 911s have gone ballistic. I guess the only way of finding out is if a buyer with $ shows up. But at $30k it is not worth selling. I recently sold my avatar, 1971 911s, and was pleasantly surprised at the price. I am thinning out my collection of parts and cars, and just trying to get a feel for the market.

I think our engines are going to be pretty rare. At the same time those needing a complete engine would be rare too. Although the prices of cars have gone up, not sure the price of a rebuild has increased as much. Having said that you can spend 40k easily to rebuild/upgrade a motor. If someone is looking to soup up their early 911, I believe there are ways to get the big hp without using a 993 turbo engine/do it more economically (also early 911's are worth quite a bit now stock, as you point out). Not sure what I'm trying to say... I have a spare stock 993 turbo engine too. Was thinking of rebuilding it to stock and putting it in a early 911 or modifying it as a spare for my car. But early 911's are worth more now, and my current engine in the car is running so well and I'm happy with it, not sure what to do with the spare. I'd say at least 50K for a built motor (I would have said that 2 years ago) but I'm not sure of the market as I suspect most would want to keep things stock as possible with the current value of our cars stock. There are going to be fewer owners wanting to upgrade their motors now vs few years ago.

5 years ago the pricey Porsche dismantlers/salvage yards were selling complete 993 TT motors for $20K all day long. Not sure what they are asking these days. The websites say to call for pricing.

Yup LA Dismantlers and such probably set the market price. Mileage and condition (and extras) will make a difference. YMMV.

Carms, was the motor stock, just out of a car, or rebuilt, modified?

Spoke with LA Dismantlers. They don't have any in stock at the moment. As a reference, the last engine they sold two months ago, went for $45,000.00.
C4S, excellent find. The Easter Bunny really delivered!

You hit the jackpot then.
Excellent buy.

I doubt there will be anymore engine available anytime soon. The way things are going its a commodity.

I know! When I heard about the engine I drove 3 hours to the town where the goods were and paid cash without even turning the crank on the engine and the tranny was still anchored to the engine. Just the big pinion tranny was worth the $.
