To find a really nice low mileage one can still run into the 70s and 80s. I have even seen a few "S" versions with 30K miles under 100. Of course I am seeing high mileage 996TTs in the high 60-80 range as well. Are you really considering a new toy?

I really been thinking long and hard about a 993 twin. I think it has more appeal than a z06 and is better suited for daily driving than a viper. Do you know of a good car for sale?

There are less than 2000 993 twins so you are going to have to put
some effort into finding one. they are all over the country on
autotrader and dupontregistry and cars.com as well as here.
A Z06 can handle over a G on a skid pad and will shake out
everyone of your fillings. You can get one for less than 38K.
different animal and price range altogether. AWFUL lot of
vipers for sale, tons of em. 60-70k for a 96 TT 65-75 for a 97.

George,
I don't really know of anything right now except the Turbo S with 30K miles. If you want to stay in a Porsche platform you know I loved my TT. Love the new one even more. However if not then score a Z06. Loads more for the dollar. Not much on the interior and 3K worth of brakes and you have everything you would want. I am sure I will get popped for making that statement. Wait until you see what they are coming out with next on the Vett...YIKES

PHD the reason I don't want a z06 now is the new body is coming out in 2005 and like you said I'll rather wait or go with a 993 twin.

Bruce Anderson just did a market and price review of the 912's and Turbos in Excellence this month (Aug.) Why he lumped those two together, I don't know. And normally, I would add 10% to 50% to his prices (especially on good early 911's) but his numbers are near enough to what I saw (shopping for the last two years.) Mileage is key. Read other threads (use search to find discussions on turbo prices) and note that prices have firmed a little in the last three months. They were crumbling since December (already relatively low) but now they've steadied.
Think about your objectives for the car -- modifications? Track? These cars are not for the faint of heart or thin of wallet.

Cheers,

There are tons of vipers in dupont registry magazine. So
many I would be very cautious. You need to get a good deal
on one. I heard one person who was dissapointed that he
had a new one and could not sell it for a huge discount.
I think what I am saying is get to know that market REALLY
well before jumping in.
