Default I had to give away my parking sign.

My new to me toy, picked it up yesterday. '86 328, 38K km, euro model imported from Italy (lighter, smaller bumpers, no cats). I had to give away my 'Porsche parking only' sign to my friend TargaTim (he has 5 Porsches).
I suppose I should join F chat forum or something...

Congrats, wow it looks immaculate and holy only 38K kms too! Magnum PI comes to mind immediately.

Be interested to eventually hear your feedback in terms of driving characteristics and how true is the myth that floats around about the absurd costs of f-car ownership.

My brother loves the 355, but god some of the maintenance stories you hear really make you think hard about it.

Thanks for the Porsche sign!

Classic Ferrari driving experience. This car is a keeper. It's a shame that Ferrari stop producing cars with its excellent manual shifter. New Ferrari owners do not know what they are missing.

Very nice. My brother had numerous sports cars over the years. In 83' I visited him and he had a 72 Pantera at the time. After driving that, I was hooked on lateral G's. At different times he has had a few different F cars. A couple 308's, a 328, a Testerossa and a 98 355B. He also had his first 993TT at the same time. I told him if he were to sell the 355, to let me know because I wanted it. Here's his garage at that time. He eventually sold both and bought the car I presently have.

Thanx guys. Not sure exactly what immaculate means, since some seem to use it pretty loosely. Theres a less than dime size area of touch up paint on the rear bumper, and a slight dimple (thumb sized) on the engine lid in the middle where I suspect someone pushed down trying to close the latch (not realizing the latches are on the sides..), hard to see unless someone points it out and suspect would be pretty easy for a paintless dent repair guy to fix. Some mild platina on the drivers side bolster. Small tear in the upholstery behind the seat where the targa roof is stored/rubs. That's about it, everything works, pretty good for a 28 yr old car me thinks.

Definitely a different driving experience, very raw/analogue (to go along with the 993t theme). Much more relaxed/outstretched hands driving position - kind of opposite of my 993t. Pretty slow cf the turbo but can heal toe and make driving more entertaining at normal/mortal speeds!

One of the reasons I got the 328 is that as I understand it, it's probably the easiest Ferrari to DIY stuff. Last Ferrari where you can change timing belts without dropping motor. I don't think I'd lose any money on the car either, if you look at Hagerty valuations, the 328 have taken a jump up recently. I think the mid engined v8's are the next to increase in value, with the 328 being probably most popular. I don't really care about increase in value apart from wanting to get into one prior to prices getting out of hand/reach. I lucked out on the 993t, hopefully on this car too. (I also think the acura nsx would be a good bet and was considering one as well but 3 328 became available in Vancouver, and I couldn't resist taking a look at them) .

Congrats - beautiful! Hmmm... hope it doesn't break any forum rules but keep us informed as you tinker with it!

I recently used a local dent removal guy after we had a whoopsy between a falling stepladder and driver's rear fender - it was significant and this fellow got it perfect. Let me know if you need his contact info.

Cheers,

Mark

Hmm - good combination and it will be interesting to see your observations about DIY's in those cars - while I have no personal experience, stories from friends who own them make the 993's seem cheap in comparison. Should be "fun" ---

Cheers,

Mike

Now that my RUF is sold, I'll probably wander back over to the Ferrari side. Problem is that I don't fit into a lot of them (too tall). The 355 is at the top of my list. Maintenance be damned.

Nice! One of our local Porsche guys added an F355 to his collection and says if you get a good independent tech and pay attention to (I think it's) ferrarichat, most Ferrari parts have inexpensive Volvo, Ford, etc. and custom substitutes. These Ferrari's are so cheap now I'm thinkin' an F355 would make a nice beater to drive up to the chalet etc.

Know it's not really needed, but still gonna say it. If ya get a 355 make sure it's not an F1! Stay with the 6 sp and you'll cut your maintnance cost in half. Even a 360 with the 6 sp is a pretty good deal right now. Wish I could, because I surely would. No trade, just an addition.

As one of my Ferrari enthusiast acquaintance says 'It's easy to buy a Ferrari, but owning one is the difficult part'.
Looking forward to doing work on the car. Agree the F355 is a better performer but wasn't really looking for performance pre se since having driven a 458 on a track (Las Vegas!), not sure that any of the newer F Cars would be interesting to me cf my modded 993t.
Just going to enjoy the experience.

Naw, this is a vicious rumour spread on Porsche sites. How difficult could it be?
