Your car sounds so good the way it is now, it is a shame it is going to have to change. Are they going to be able to keep the center exhaust outlet when they reinstall the stock mufflers?

I say too bad for the old farts. You have a street legal smog tested and passed car. You drive in slow and drive out slow. 20 mph. So what of you make a little noise for 45 seconds. Old grumpy guys will always find something to bitch about. They have nothing better to do.

"IF" we reinstall the stock mufflers, FD Motorsports will keep the center exhaust. But a temporary baffle is sounding possible.

The tail pipes now have larger stainless tips on them. The pipes are 2.5", the tips are 3.0". The pipes/tips are only about 5" long before they make a sharp bend.

A good exhaust place - ( Try FD - they seem to be acceptable around here….. ) should be able to fab up what i am talking about petty easy.
A handle and a rag would be the easiest way to remove it when hot.
You are an old Fart - and will just idle out of the complex right? - i am not sure how long the drive is - but it can't be that long ?
Then whilst you are stowing the blocker/diffuser - the car can keep warming up….
It needs top be a simple slide on fix - with maybe a bolt to skewer throughout to stop it falling off?
I used to have one on an old race car - but that was before the digital cameras - so don't have any pics. It may be a crude fix - but it WILL work.
Best,
Simon.

What's wrong with an electric bypass? That would be the best solution, IMO. Run the exhaust through a muffler while in the complex, flip a switch to bypass the muffler when you're out. Although, I must say I'd be very wary of moving there. If neighbors are already complaining and you don't even live there, it's just a sign of things to come. They will find other things to complain about.

An electric by-pass? Ya know I had one of those. Okay, okay community don't laugh but I had a 1995 3000gt vrfour with the exhaust electric silencer...it worked until the car was out of warranty. But it worked well until then BIG BIG difference. Didn't the later 997's have em too?
Interventions sound incredible. What a solid community. I'm just a rufus wanna-be so I couldn't bring myself to changing that exhaust. Why not try the steel wool like you initially mentioned?... worth a try, no money, no effort. Can even quantify with decibel meter on amazon...cheap too

When I was about 10, I stuff one of those tail pipe whistles up the exhaust of my dad's '68 Mustang. He was not at all amused.
