Default Strange/Impossible??? 993TT acceleration on youtube

Appreciating this video I found on youtube until I looked at it a lil more closely. It's just some guy videoing his speedo from 0-140mph. Kinda cool and all BUT isn't it impossible?

Note at the 7 second mark he takes off and by 17 seconds he's doing 120mph. aaaaa isn't that impossible? Unless 993TTs are top fuel dragsters now.....strange anyone make any sense of it?

Gets boring here:............actually a two fold question. I wasn't just trolling the internet looking for drag racing 993 videos (not that I haven't anyway) but I was looking for an answer to an acceleration concern of mine. Upon a "spirited" Thanksgiving drive I noted that in third and fourth gear the rpms just "fly" and rev from about 4000 rpm to 6000rpm in the blink of an eye. Is this "normal"? Car is still accelerating....but I don't think its "pulling" hard. I have a Proto ECU tune. I was going to time it 0-100 to see if it's just me imagining a problem and that's when I found this video. Admittedly this is my first Porsche (well we have a Cayenne TT too but that doesn't really count) and I'm just used to V8 slow revving American V8's. So this could be normal. But third and forth gear (couldn't test 5th & 6th obviously) in the blink of an eye?

well its a ruf turbo R, so its faster than a stocker.

as to your question, sounds like you may have some clutch issue, cause the revs certainly shouldn't "fly" in 4th gear.

Part 1: Impossible even for a Ruf.....that would be "Ruf"ly a sub 10 second quarter mile. (Maybe speedo a lil off and my perception of time) Think I want a Ruf conversion now

Part 2:.......and great a clutch pulls fine in normal driving but under hard accelerating it does seem like slippage....darn!....thanks though.

You need a new clutch. A skilled shop does NOT need to pull the motor.

The car in the video sounds like it's sitting on a dyno

I think this Ruf may have have different gearing too.....based on that video if he is near redline in 5th @ 140mph I don't see how one more gear would get up to 190+mph.

Guys, this video was done by Bill S the "inventor" of the 60-130mph measurement as an true indicator of power, now used throughout the world of tuned cars - he started it all

There is nothing wrong with the video, there is considerable speedo error and he may have been on a slope, in fact Bill's Ruf has 490/500hp and does 0-200kph in about 12.5s IIRC, he did lots of GPS data logging.

Nah, not 200mph..... 186.4mph (300kph), it's about 0.5s faster than the new 991 turbo S but it has 20hp more and weighs 250kg less, oh and there are the small matter of 5 real gear changes

always enjoy vids of toby's car. I'm glad he didn't sell it. My favorite is of the fly by at 190mph. Just classic. Please upload that one on this thread.
