993 Turbos - No Mods??

We have a wealth of interesting Mods that we often see on our Coupes, Cabriolets, and even Targas.
C2, C4, C2S, and C4S are tinkered with quite often.
I noticed that original 993 Turbos are basically bone stock, eventually some exhaust mods or hardbacks, but not much more than that.
Is it because they are the pinnacle of 993 and don't need any personalization? Is it their cost in itself? Mods don't look good on them?
Any insights?
Rodrigo.

Hi. My name is Scott and I'm a modaholic.
"Hi Scott"
(Just so you know my background in the interests of full disclosure).
I have only ever once driven an unmodded 993 Turbo. I have owned two muy modded 993 turbos. These cars take to mods like a duck takes to water.
If you post a picture of your new-to-you turbo on this forum with stock suspension height you will get bullied like Jonathan Martin by Richie Incognito by the inmates to modify it.
I would guess 80% of the regulars on this forum have modded their car.

In my mind it's not a mod if the old part was inferior or flawed (LWF). Also, things were learned over time that result in improvements in longevity and should be done to make the car more reliable (second oil cooler).

Usually, the bone stock cars (ie. no suspension/exhaust/etc) are kept that way because they are collector cars. The Turbos are more collectable than the NB cars, so a good percentage of stock cars are kept that way, but not sure if its any different than the NB cars for instance.
What you see on the list is biased as well - you may get a disproportional count of issues and upgrades for all 993's.
Cheers,
Mike

If you are looking at ones for sale, most people 'un'mod when they sell...

Maybe you haven't had a chance to discuss this topic with many owners. Often the best mods are the ones that aren't noticed by the untrained eye.
I could have bought a second unmolested 993Turbo with the amount I've spent on mods. But I enjoy molesting mine too much.

Collectors not so much, but drovers have found mods worth doing.
PSS9/10, front shock tower brace, fire extinguisher w/ mount (passenger), FD Mufflers, S-Car-Go hoses, and 996 oil lines, come to mind.
New radio head set / speakers. Body - only NA bumper-ette delete / Euro lens and headlamps bulbs.

How about if you add parts that would have been a factory option - Litronics for example, or all the components of the X50 option? The car wouldn't be 'stock' as far as that individual one left the factory, but then I guess very few cars would have left the factory without some form of personalisation by ticking the options list (even if it was only to add overmats).
