General rule from what I can tell. Stock car not on the track, no need for addl oil cooler. Upgrade in power or using at the track trips the need more cooling requirement. Use as you see fit

You beat me to it - even in heavy traffic in the middle of summer, the temp does not go past the first line with the over-ride switch on. Recently installed 8 of them for the local boys up here ...

This is not a substitute for extra oil coolers on upped engines undergoing lots of thermal stress, but for street driving, etc. just put the switch in first, and see how it works. If you are not getting the cooling you need, then go for the additional cooler.

Cheers,

Mike

Awesome, thank you.... But I always feel that it's safer having another oil cooler to maintain temp. The only thing bad for the 993's is thermal.... So will this keep temp down in stop an go for about an hour?

It does for me, even if I am in the interior of the province where it gets into the high 90's if not 100. No experience down south where it can get really really hot..

I am using 2 HKS R-Type oil coolers. Oil stays cool even on 100F track driving.
2 are totally about 1.000 $ and this is the exact solution for me.
