Non factory paint job, generally subtract 10-15k. That's the price of the paint job, so that's a 20-30k swing!

Yeah, it seems like if you are going to take that hit, you should probably hold the car for many years to amortize the cost, otherwise you might end up paying several times the cost of simply owning the car just for the brief enjoyment of having it be your favorite color.

I'll say it, thats an asinine color. I guess if you're really into smurfs or baby blue, this would be intriguing. Add the non-factory paint job and the price. No thanks.

I would be shocked if he doesn't at least get mid 70's for this car. If I was in the market and looking for this color (and I was!) I would easily pay that amount

It's his money to do what he pleases. Some just enjoy the project more than the final outcome and have the deep pockets to afford such a hobby. This is nothing compared to Alvin's Big Bird project.

The car looks good. The color looks good. I'll buy it if I have garage space.

I'd be willing to go unoriginal in color, but only if the paint job was insanely well done. I don't want to be detailing the car and finding tape marks on the inside of the trunk lid, etc. That said, I'd still expect to save some cash "settling" for non-oem paint color.
