Default 997.2 GT3 vs 993TT

Hello board,

I just would like to know if the GT3(3.8) described in the tittle should be about the same fast on a stright/highway pull as my 993tt which is stock except it has the 430cv power package and no 02/CAT from factory (euro specs & lead gas specs) and the GT3 is euro specs as well, stock too.

Anyone here that have both cars or have seen head to head of these 911's that could comment?

Thanks,

-Diego

Well you have more torque but hp about the same and weight very similar. Probably loose a little through the 4wd system. A similar comparison is my car which has larger hybrid turbos and sport cats is very close to 997.2 gt3rs in a straight line. I think I'm a little faster in high altitude and he's a little faster at sea level/hot days. I was a little faster everywhere before his engine was broken in. Not a big difference on the track believe it or not but my car doesn't have stock suspension .

I was torn between my friend's 2011 GT3 and a 993tt. He lent me his car for a month (I was to pay the payment for that month) I drove the car for less than an hour and decided I would lose my license with such a car. I returned the car that morning. I purchased a '97tt that was low mile with a fresh top end. There was over two months between my time in the GT3 and driving my 993tt. I much preferred the 993tt, but I don't think it was near as fast as the GT3. I sold the tt a few months ago, a decision I now very much regret. I love my 991S but I have never once sat in my garage with a martini and just stared at it like I did so often with the 993. I am looking for another 993 now.

Well, my friend (the GT3 in mention) and I went to the open highway for an AutoX and while traveling down the destitnation we did few pulls, all from a roll. My 993tt used to be faster at the begining of the acceleration 2nd/3th, depending on what gear I was, and I could see taking a car ahead of him but as soon as we were in 4th or so...he started to pull over me and passed my 993tt effortless taking 1.5 cars ahead of mine..go figure it out. We did few pulls and all were the same...the GT3 seems to be more elastic and just faster at the top end than my 993tt (and I'm still need to find out if my cars is equipped with the K24 or K16 turbos, but soo I will know that).

I have driven his GT3 in the past but comming back to town, we switched the cars and they just are totally different cars in all the aspects but I did feel quicker the GT3 being seated in it. Too bad I didn't carry a GoPro to record dit

you just need 16/16g's, proto tune 1.0bar of boost and you won't have that top end problem anymore ;-)

our cars are now 16 years old, its pretty amazing that they can run with the new cars with simple mods.

If you're into modding, there's a lot more that can be done to get extra power out of a 993TT than you can do (within reason) to a 997.2 GT3.

Stock for stock the gt3 feels a lot faster, but I think it's about the same. There's something about that NA pull that is breathtaking. I speak from experience. But I love my 993tt more

Think the 993tt is faster on paper, right? nearly meaningless but think so.

Echo Chris,

Doesn't matter what's parked in the garage, the 993TT seems to attract the light with its fat ****; I mean how many cars have a 60-ish degree angle of fender over their tires? Butt is the martini shaken or stirred?

I own both as well and doc_porsche sums it up pretty well. The pull is entirely different obviously, the high revs in the GT3 are the best music... but the 993tt is magical. I have turbo hybrids in the 993tt and the torque is stunning. Faster...the GT3 feels like it when it gets on it but a tricked out 993tt is a different story.

I guess i'ts interesting in a way, but I do not get the fascination with straight-line drag-race like comparisons. Both of these cars are much more than dragsters, and the determination of which car is "better" would be dependant on a large list of very personal objectives, so the answer varies for every person.

Personally, both are plenty fast enough for me to lose my licence, so they are equal. Handling, GT3 should have the edge due to technology. Looks wise, I like the more classic lines of the TT, especially the rear. DIY stuff - TT clear winner. Depreciation - TT clear winner.

Anyways, you guys get my drift.

Cheers,

Mike

The GT3 is way too big and less intimate than the 993 TT which oozes sensuality on wheels.
