Finally... I get to correct Mike J. Ruf ALSO makes 11" rears (also with a NB offset).

I use 255x30x19 front and 315x25x19 rear. Toyo T1R. These tires fit the rim perfectly, are a great match front to rear, and are approximately the same overall diameter as the stock 18" tires. This means a VERY small sidewall which is a bit rough riding, but there is no tire squirm.

That is why I said the 993 RUFs, not the 996 RUF's -> the 996 ones are 11" wide.

And if the challenge is to correct me, man, I leave opportunities for this all over the place....

Cheers,

Mike

final question:

do you gentlemen think 255/35/19s will fit up front?

again, I am stuck (stuck for reasons stated in prior replies in this post) with a 305/30/19 in the back and the 255/35 is the equivalent diameter... but will it rub? anyone ever try that size out there?

I use a 255x30x19 up front without a problem. I use a very non-aggressive camber, and I have a PSS-9 based suspension with smaller diameter springs (gives a bit more space). All of this, plus your wheel offset and the exact size of your brand of tires (as you have noted... great variations here) go into the equation. How close is the 245x35x19 to matching the rear?

I may in the same boat as you on my next tire change... I'm not sure anyone still makes the 315x25x19 rear size.

Your car looks to be stock ride height, so 255's would probably work. I run 245's on a lowered car and get slight rubbing.

This is what I'm using for the 315/25-19 and they are still available.

Steve didn't know if that size tire was still available. Another option for him is Michelin PS2

yup but we can't have mismatched tires Steve's 255/30 and 315/25 are sadly extinct maybe the lucky few interested would read this and buy them now if there are a couple of sets left....somewhere.

Some opportunist is selling 315/25s Toyo's like Steve's but mated with 235/35's on Ebay for a premium hoarder price.

and i'm stuck with the bridgestones really hope those 255/35s don't rub i think the 245/35 with the 305/30 is too much of a diameter difference.

this 19" porsche wheel thing is a mess isn't it?

Its only a mess because you are trying to cram the largest tire possible on the car.

I am not convinced it's really worth it, these are road cars. I run reasonable sized tires as recommended by RUF, handles great, and track the car as well and the tires are well matched with the car. No rubbing issues at all, no worries, and I can get replacements cheap.

Just my opinion.

Cheers,

Mike

Mike what sizes/brand of tire are you using? And I agree, except that the big fat tires LOOK bitchin'. What can I say... I'm a child in an old wrinkled body.

The Cuf's are 11's Mike. can't put 285's on em. Heck I can't even put 295's on em. Thats what this whole post is about. The pics I posted are 295/30's. They look bad, very bad, too stretched. And it's b/c of the brand and model line of the tire. Some other brands in the 295/30 size look just fine...like the Hankooks.
Now i have to go to 305/30's and I don't want to. Doing that makes me get a 255/35 for the front-don't want to do that either. I have to stay in Bridgestone line due to the 30 day guarantee. There are no other answers. Just wanted to know if the 255/35's might rub.
That set-up is less than 0.7% difference between front/back. In your opinion would a 245/35 be okay with those 305/30's? That would be a 1.7% difference front to back though.
I wish they made 10.5" Cufs. Then my existing tires would fit, a whole new world of sizes would be available, and we could achieve world peace.
