Here's the link to the car:
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=60031&endYear=1996&modelCode1=911&showcaseOwner Id=9603808&startYear=1996&makeCode1=POR&sellerTypes=d&sellerType=d&searc hRadius=300&bodyStyleCodes=COUPE&mmt=[POR[911[]][]]&listingId=336973368&listingIndex=2&Log=0
Before anyone that might be out of town spends time or money on a PPI, thought I'd pass on some info.
Interior is OK except the carbon fiber is aftermarket and looks terrible (yellowing, some areas are lifting).
Exterior is a disaster IMO.
Rear bumper is all melted around the exhaust tips (aftermarket exhaust not installed correctly) and there is a huge crack (6") in the paint on the bumper - needs a new rear bumper.
Front bumper has been painted and was not installed properly - the passenger side front bumper wart is misaligned. It is all scuffed up on the bottom.
The cover for the tow hook is missing and the threaded part of the bumper support does not line up with the opening of the bumber cover.
There is a paint chip just above the driver's door (by the rain gutter thing) - rust is starting to appear (it's tiny, but it is there).
All four brake calipers have badly peeling clear coat and are 1/2 pink and 1/2 red.
The rims are curbed.
I didn't even test drive the car because it was in such bad condition.
Oh, the odometer is broken so mileage is unknown. It's listed as 32,XXX but the car looks like it has 100,000 miles on it.
I can only imagine what mechanical issues or lack of maint there may be if the previous owner allowed the condition of the car to deteriorate like this.
I'm sure it can be brought back to life if someone wants a project.
Was just hoping to save someone some time and money if the poor cosmetic condition and unknown mileage was going to deter you from even looking at it.
Oh, the good part - it does come with four tires!

Funny how on the ad they do not even post pictures of the interior. These days though, ask $60K, get it for $55K, that give some room for fixes but the odometer is a real issue.

Wonder if that Porsche dealer originally sold that car? Maybe they know the service history?

There's pics of the interior on the mobile Autotrader ad .. it's sad to see a car in this shape but what's interesting is .. if you look at the Carfax, the average monthly mileage for both owner number 1 and 2 was 125/month. That's 6K more miles from the last good reading of 26,025 on 8/31/2007 .. which would back up a mileage reading now somewhere around 32K. I guess my point is, if the mileage isn't that far off and it looks like all appropriate services were preformed by the Porsche Exchange dealer as scheduled, the last service being Napleton Porsche .. the car may be mechanically sound and just need some cosmetics. For low, mid- $50's, might be a decent project for someone. Am I being naive?

I guess if you could get some proof to justify the mileage claim etc too.

For $40k more at the same dealer:
And that car didn't even come close to looking like it had the correct mileage either.
I'd expect it to have been much nicer with that mileage. It wasn't that great.
