993 TT with mods
Hopefully I am posting correctly and in the correct place. My question is does anybody know about this ebay car? It is a modified twin turbo, appears to be done well, I'm considering it for purchase. Should someone talk me off the ledge?

I see you are in Washington. Car is in Louisiana.
The mods are tasteful. Mechanical setup is a bit more "needy" and the car doesn't seem like it was intended to drive on a more regular basis. It's more of a weekend warrior setup. But nonetheless the manufacturers used in the build are reputable people in the Porsche world. So, its worth checking out the build and maintenance history.
The main characteristic I looked at was, would you drive this car for $1.00-$1.25/mi. ? Before gas tires and insurance come into effect. More towards the $1.25/mi. With the mechanical setup.
The answer was yes. So the slippery slope began. Lol. They are great cars. Full of character. Comparable to many beautifully aging celebrity woman. Like say... Denise Austin.
Less prone to wrinkling than a woman. Which is probably why they are so appealing to us. Also why my wife goes nowhere nea r-list or over to six speed.

"Stays away from r-list and 6 speeds!" You're cracking me up! Thanks for the feedback. Can you describe neediness of mechanical lifters? I want to drive this car... Not daily but frequently and without hesitation.

I was waiting for someone with a 993TT with mechanical lifters to respond, but I'll go ahead anyway. Based on my century-old experience with 1970 and 1974 911s (both with mechanical lifters), the valves needed to be adjusted at least every 10,000 miles. I have no idea what the interval might have been on a car that sees little use. The issue with a 993TT with mechanical lifters is that the turbos must be removed to get access to the valve adjusters. This is a pretty crappy and time-consuming job.

Mechanical lifters here. They need adjusting every 10,000 mile. My engine only has 7,000 miles on it so I haven't adjusted them yet. As far as performance goes, no issues.

If mods are uniform and from a respectable manufacturer they will be fine on maintaining the value. In some cases a slight increase.
Then there is always the holy grail rule... 100% stock, low miles, ultimate resale.
Are you already considering selling? lol.
You should get a driver first. Enjoy in good health. Then if you love them go out and get a museum piece to tuck away on jackstands. IMHO.
If you want to race something get an old 944. go crazy on mods. With no regrets. That is my plan.

That car has been on the market for quite some time... I think I remember the 'asking' price was around $75k when I first saw it listed. Good 993tt's are snapped up pretty quickly, so I'd advise that if you are very interested, you proceed with caution & have a very thorough PPI performed.
