993 TT vs. 997 TT
For those that own both or have had reasonable amount of seat time in both how would you compare/contrast the cars?

the 997 is miles faster...I mean its significant. It also has more grip, better brakes, and well, is all around more capable. The rest of the stuff is standard air cooled vs. water cooled which you likely know already.
I like both cars, but for my purposes as an occasion use weekend car, I preferred the 3. If you are going to use it more often, the 997 is a clear choice Imho.

Quad said it best. I had an '08 997.1tt cab and it was my off/on DD. Outside of it's great performance (a given) it was also a good vehicle in stop/go traffic / inner city driving. Biggest issue I had was with it's low overhang. Ended up going thru a couple of chin spoilers. More aggravation than anything.
Reason for the swap to a 993tt was for subjective reasons that I won't state here because they've been posted elsewhere ad nauseum. Suffice it to say, I no longer needed a car for a DD, so decided that a more 'vintage' P-car would fit the bill.

I think if you're not in it for the speed or dd, I say he 993 is the way to go. The feel, the essence is there on he 993. I think the 997 is much more capable on every level Except the feel.......

The 993 is not a raw car if you ask me. Yes, it doesn't have all the new fangled gadgets of the 997, nor is it as well insulated, but its hardly a rough car. The clutch is light, its got plenty of torque around town, the steering/shifter isn't heavy, visibility is generally good, ride isn't bad (unless you have your stuff set to full hard), etc. In stock form, its pretty quiet as well.
I'm just not seeing why people call the car raw. It could easily be used as a daily if you wanted to (see msw). Sure if its been modded for the track or something it may be more raw, but a stock 993TT is a very liveable car.
