Valid points, I guess if you'd don't DIY or somewhat price shop for parts you'll be paying big $ for service and repairs.

Either pay for repairs or pay via depreciation.

After owning both, I would like to hear your points about what makes the 997TT so great?

I know someone that recently got rid of a modified 997TT and went for a 993 C4S. He said outside of performance, the driving characteristics of a 993 was so much more engaging and enjoyable. No regrets selling the 997.

Well. Why don't I just trot right over to Off-Topic and start it right now! See you there, B

edit: stuck it in 'other marques'

my first guess would be that people are different and driving enjoyment is not measured equally across different people.

the 993tt is great, the 997tt is great, why must there be the constant comparison. drive what you prefer and let everyone else do the same

Time lapse comparison...

Would you rather drive a '57 chevy or a '73 chevy... The 73 is leaps and bounds more technologically advanced and had far better emissions and fuel economy.

Exactly it's just a guess.

Why not hear from an enthusiast/someone who has owed all 3 gens and confirms the 997 has it all. Points outside of ...it has a warranty and cost less in repairs.

I can't comment it's not great, never owned one, but hey maybe one day!

But the point is, that would be from HIS point of view, not mine. As I noted before, we will never resolve this discussion because a very large component is personal preference and opinion.

Even if you did a survey and talked to 1000 people who have experienced all three, that would be an average result and not representative of everyone.

Cheers,

Mike

I've had the 996, 997 and a 993....... The one I won't buy again would be thee 996. Creature comfort, the 997 wins hand down. The one that feels most special and feels like a drivers car is the 993.....

I've had a 996c4s, 993tt, 997tt (x3) and a 930s.
I agree the worst of the lot was the 996.
The most engaging by far is the 930.
The 993 was a great car but too underpowered vs the 997 and no faster than my 996c4s.
Currently I have a 997.1 tt and a 930s best of both.
