Question Track temps?

These temps seem ok?

Lime rock, 78-80f, yellow solo driver, temp gauge hit about 9:30, at most 10. Undertray on, stock car.

Car ran like a champ, but Handling doesn't compare to 997!! Thanks, Ross

Yeah, that is about right - do you do not have the fan-override option installed? It also depends on how much on-boost you are doing.

I would dump the undertray asap, and go the fan mod if you do not have it - that will allow you to precool the oil cooler for your runs.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks

Definitely using boost. I only do 1-2 days a year with this car, more of a driver/keeper so want to keep it bone stock.

there is a resister under the headlight (really easy to get to) when unplugged your fan stays on.
definitely remove under tray (don't think I have ever even seen one on)
those temps are fine just be sure to cool turbos before shutting down. Did you get a new set of numbers or still purple duct tape?

Temps seem similar to mine when I had under tray on, then I found rennlist and removed under tray for DE events. If you have the car up in the are for all the pre DE tech, pulling the under tray for the DE (at a minimum) is not a big job. Then put it back on if you feel so inclined for day to day use (YMMV, lots of threads on that topic). Dropped from a peak of 10 to 9ish doing DE sans tray. Make sure to do extra cool down driving when you come off the track, more then one cool down lap (out driveway and back, etc.) and more then the typical 30-sec delay after a day to day brisk drive. Even then I let it idle a good 5 minutes more to keep the cooling going when coming off track. Make sure your oil is up to the task (synthetic dino, again more threads), the turbos on track duty create a lot of heat soak and as you see higher temps then NA cars.

Enjoy, be safe, & have fun out there.

I also let my Turbo sit at idle, the oil fan is on high, and the lid it open for at least 5 minutes off a track run. You can feel the heat in the fenders and through the wheel wells. I also have done what you suggested, lightly run it so the air is circulating around the bottom of the engine. Good advice!

I take a cool down lap and then idle for nearly five minutes. But agree, you can see the heat. Even brakes were wicked hot, couldn't get the valve caps off, needed to use gloves. Car runs like a champ though. Thanks for all the posts
