would that car be allowed in the US or would it have to be modified in some manner to allow it in?

All RUF Turbo Rs are 50 state compliant. I don't understand why this one is advertised as a 2005 model. It seems to be a Ruf Vin car and not a 993 converted in 2005. Weird.

I realize that mine may be the only opinion but

There are many tuners and many ways to further develop the platform. That Ruf has a longer history than most iif not all, is part of the mystique of his banner. Yes, he "brands" them and yes his approach is tested and true.

But as many here have said, you can get equivalent effects from other sources.

So, "way nicer"..??? Just cannot agree. (was your tongue in cheek?)

YMMV

From an EPA (emissions) perspective - Yes. From a DOT (safety) perspective - No. I agree, weird story with the 2005 build. Where would have RUF gotten a non-VIN tub from, 8 years after Porsche stopped production?

So you order a custom TurboR, don't tick the box for the integrated roll cage but opt for a NAV system?

you might be wrong here. my buddy has a RUF RT12 (RUF Vin) that was built sometime in 2005. i recall him saying that people at the RUF factory were telling him that Alois had a couple of bare tubs lying around and that if someone convinced him enough to build another CTR2 or Ruf Turbo R, it would be very possible. this might be one of them.

Should read " 993 Turbo R built in 2005 with RUF Vin# ect,ect"

Those wheels look like Porsche wheels, not the RUF signature wheels. Guess he didn't want the boat anchors

Sweet Ride

Boat anchors... yes,but ahhh... they look so sweet. Plus, the 18" wheels will not fit over your or my brakes!
