Default 16/16G w/Profec B assistance

Hi All,

I went for my 1st drive with the new configuration and need some help. as soon as he car goes above .8 it kicks the boost down to .5 and maintains there. I've adjusted all parameters of the Profec and nothing's still instantly goes down to .5 and stays there. This reading is coming from the profec's boost read out.

What's even more strange is the factory boost gauge says .8 during a pull.

The ecu(96) was tuned by Todd at Protomotive and I've installed brand new 710n diverter valves so I wouldn't think that was the issue But who knows. 5bar for also installed.

Side Note: My Profec 2 will not allow me to set the GAIN to 0. The lowest setting it allows is 5% is everyone else using the Profec also only go down to 5%? I've seena number of posts that say to put GAIN at 0.

So anyone out there using an EBC have a thought as to why the car just wants to run at .5 bar?

Thanks,
Chad

I got this resolved. Just so there is closure on the thread. I want to thank Todd Knighton for filling in the gaps that I needed to make it run sweet.

Much improved over stock is all I can say!!! Worth every penny.

Hi Mike,

All that needed to be done is put the SET value at 50(%) and that allowed the system to hold the boost. I put GAIN at 10(Zero)and the SET GAIN was also zeroed out. That gave me a base line and I will now make fine tune adjustments to both GAIN and SET GAIN.

Because there was very little information on 993tt and the Profec B on the net...this weekend I wasn't able to get examples of what people were running for our cars but saw lots of posts regading SET settings nowhere near the 50(%) level and being the conservative soul that I am I never brought it past 25(%) but the reality according to Todd was nothing was even happening when it was at 25(%).

If anyone has any specific questions on the set-up please let me know as I am happy to help.

Chad

I'm really new at this turbo stuff... All NA and super charger for me my whole life. So are you running on stock turbo with an upgraded waste gate and reprogram ecu for this chad? If so what is the advantage to this and maybe doing the hybrid turbo , something I'm consider doing........

Yes its a Hybrid set-up. The hot side of the turbo is stock for quick spool-up but the cold side(inlet) is a Mitsubishi 16G impeller which I believe is larger than a K24's impeller. I love the set up. The car is now going thru a top-end rebuild as it has 70K miles and it was a good opportunity for me to freshen up the engine to go with the new found power.

The ECU & Turbo upgrades were all done by Todd Knighton at Protomotive. The car also has a 5bar Fuel Pressure Regulator and an Electronic Boost Controller. Works like a charm.

Out of curiousity how does your 993tt feel compared to the GT3RS4.0. Not handling-wise, just power delivery-wise.

Great pair btw.

Thanks, they are both great cars :-)

The 4.0 power is purely linear and the torque comes in at very low RPM and pulls forever till redline.

The TT, as you know has that kick in the butt feel (@1.1barg)from ~3500-6000 rpm. For sure it accelerates faster over a certain rpm range but the 4.0 overall is much faster and has the suspension/handling advantage to do so safely.
Enjoy and be safe!

The gt3 pull is glorious.......mince you step on it, it just pulls. Can't compare it to the turbo. The feel is much more confident when driving the gt3 because you have control of the power at all times. I get a little rattle when driving the tt

Thanks for that. It looks like something I am looking for.......what's the general price range for this project?

If I may offer my advice - call Todd Knighton at Protomotive and he can get you all set up.

I had my TT (protomotive) mods done at Protosport in NJ - another top notch P shop, great guys who know 993 Turbos

+1^
The GT3 is so planted at speed it really inspires confidence.

thankfully the AWD in my TT is there, I wouldn't want to try it in 2wd - aka widowmaker like the new GT2RS :-)

It's true, the 2wd is scary, but you can control the speed pretty well, making it easier on the nerve. The tt on the other hand I fun it, then I get ready for it, a little more nervous. But you're right that 4wd helps a lot...btw love that RS of yours.......my next dream
