Default New turbo-terrible surprise

I was really, really looking forward to making this post. First, a little history, I flew out to CA for a PPI about 5 weeks ago. The car was a very near perfect Arena Red/cashmere with 24K and bone stock but for an H&R Euro height set-up. If you had the patience to read my interminable posts you will recall that the car passed the PPI but for one low cylinder leakdown number. I abused this forum for advice both during and after the PPI, and based upon that advice, decided to buy the car when the seller agreed to pay for a top end job done by Schneider's Auto Haus in Santa Barbara. Steve, of local Rufus fame, thought highly of the place and so I felt comfortable that I would end up with a better car than I had hoped for to begin with. While the car was apart I had ALL the parts replaced that were
recommended by various RL'ers ( see previously mentioned
interminable posts). It all took longer than I had hoped (what's new?) but I was knew the quality of work was more important than
the time. So I pick the car up on Tuesday and have a fabulous drive up to Big Sur. I thought this was the most fun one could have while
dressed until the next to days driving to and through Yosemite. From there we left for Las Vegas. The route 168 across the mountains is
not to be missed, but I was anxious to test the long straight roads in
Nevada. My ***** gave out at 150, due to my advanced age and
unfamiliar car, but how the car gathered speed was astounding.
After several high speed blasts we arrive at the Bellagio, where the limits of excess go beyond anything I've ever imangined. At this point
I can't describe how happy I am with this car and with the folks who
did all the work on it, from the guru Henry at Schneiders to Steve at Rennsport for the head work. The engine never missed a beat, just an immense Electric motor as quiet as my Audi until provoked.
We check in and find a great room and have a wonderful dinner only to go to the casino and see displayed, not James Bond with a lovely blond at his side playing Baccarat, but hundreds of people who budgeted far too much on cheeseburgers and tattoos.
We decided that two such nights was more than enough of an assault on our senses. We planned to leave on Sunday to the Grand Canyon and then on to Telluride. The phone rings haroind 4 on Sat. It's security asking me to meet them jat my car.

I arrive I see that some lunatic had smashed the windshield, rear
window, passenger window, pounded a dent in the hood, smashed the spoiler and the right rear fender. At this point I have to get it
taken somewhere secure on Monday and arrange to have it shipped back to MD. I am again seeking advice from you guys. The car will
require some minor body work and a total repaint. I have taken lots
of pictures and will take more but don't know where to take it on the East coast. I will post some pictures when I get home if you like but they might make you puke. Thanks in advance for any help with
this......Chris.......PS...I am trying to remain mentally healthy concerning this but my mind keeps wandering to aluminum baseball bats and ice picks!

Yosemite. The car was an absolute delight.

I can't believe your (bad) luck! It can all be fixed no big deal, any of us would feel uncomfortable at 150mph even after many years driving them. These cars can benefit from some added downforce in the front to give them stability. You will learn the tricks with time.. being here

I have done that same trip a couple of times, those roads are beautiful

If you are not far from Dulles area, someone very knowledgeable and close to me has a great Porsche shop called Funktionauto, you and your car will be very well treated.

Good luck.

definitely wasn't expecting the way it ended for you. sounds like you have a very solid motor and the rest that needs to be done is cosmetic ....... the car will, soon enough, impress you again. hang tight.

So sorry...... things like this should never happen. Keep you head screwed on straight (sounds like you are/will). You're on the right road. Have a quality shop do a quality job on it and enjoy the car for many years. Did their security camera pick anything up? If you didn't, file a police report. Hang in there.

I am very, very sorry for this experience. It is enough to sour you on the human race--but these are the times we live in . . . at least for now. I will keep a good thought for you and know that this fine automobile will be restored to new and you will have many fun and exciting times together on the open road. Good Luck!

Dennis

holy **** dude, didn't see that coming.

I did something similar (picked up in LA drove through vegas, stayed at the MGM).

Very sorry that your new acquisition took a beating. Good luck getting it fixed. On the bright side, you may be able to get some nicks, scratches or chips fixed on the ins. company's dime.

WOW, crazy sad ending. Better days are ahead for you.

Did the hotel security see the vandel(s) on tape? Will they take any responsibility?

What a terrible story, and simply an nightmare. So sorry that it happened.

As others have said, it will be fixed and you will be back to your fun blasts.

I am just a 993 Turbo owner wannabe. I am really sorry about what happened to your car. Like others have posted, it would be nice to get a look at what is on the security cameras on the garage. The casinos seem to have cameras everywhere.

Oh man I want to puke.
We all remember your angst in getting this car.
What a total bummer.

Don't feel bad about chickening out at 150. My skirt blew up over my eyes at about 145 at Willow Springs in my old car.....

Thanks all for your kind comments. There a police report as well as a Billagio security report. By the way, Bellagio security guys are REALLY big. They said they have some security cameras in the parking areas and they would be taking a look. Something tells me the perp (how fast one picks up the lingo) didn't step out of a Ferrari to do this, so if they catch him it does me no real good, unless I'm allowed use of the aforementioned bat and ice pick. I have Grundy collector car insurance and I'll keep all posted on how that goes. Thanks again for your advice......Chris
