Default Pulling trigger on 993tt purchase

I have been lurking here for some time. I was trying to decide between a 993tt and a 997 gt3 .2 . After driving a GT3 I have decided it is too track oriented for my tastes. It produces the best sounds on the run up to redline that I have ever heard, but I admire the restraint that anyone would need to drive one on the street and keep their permit. I have found a 97 993tt with 22,000 miles, silver with supple black, stock but for ss mufflers, ECU upgrade. Rear bumper repaint but no metal work ever. Assuming a good PPI I have two questions: What's a fair price? And second: Other than ROW springs and new shocks....what does it need? I may do a de or two but otherwise street use for 10,000 miles per yr. This is the best place on the planet to ask such a question. Cheers.......Chris

I'm not in the market so I cannot advise on price.
I'm also the wrong person to ask what a car needs ...I have a bit of a modding problem.
To do a couple of DEs every year, all you need to do is flush your brake fluid and make sure you have 50% pad left.

Chris, at 22K miles if you are in the US then I would expect to pay 59K-65K private and 65K-75K at a dealer.

22k miles is great, under 60 pull the trigger. i would think it would be closer to 65-70 if its in great shape. Even the private sellers see the dealer pricing and they expect to get something close to that. Good luck!

Thanks Scott. I must say that to say of your car that you have "a bit of a modding problem" is an understatement along the lines of Attila the Hun being an unwanted dinner guest. If I buy this car I intend to make it look like yours. Your back and forth with Rufus is the high point of this site in terms of entertainment. Thanks for your participation.....Chris

97 with 22k miles for $59 in a desireable color? Not anywhere I've seen

If you decide to buy the 993 Turbo, and do an exhaust mod like the FabSpeed bypass pipes or the Fister set-up, and get on boost, you will soon forget the great sounding GT3!

IMHO you are looking at a high 60s low 70s car. If it is higher, I would look for a higher mileage 993tt. In 5 years you will have added 50,000 miles to the odometer. There is no use in paying a premium for a low mileage example. If you can pay 60ish for one with 40,000 miles on it you'll be good.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Consider the PSS10s. I much prefer them to the MO30 Bilstein set up, especially for a turbo.

I was in the market as of two months ago before I bought Spidey.

22k miles near stock is $70-75k if private. Add $5k-10k if dealer.

If u find one in the 60's, that's the exception.

Thanks for all the input. The prices for these cars are definitely going up, which I am convinced is because I want one so badly. The asking price is $78,500 which is mighty strong....I will keep you all posted. Is there a secret handshake among 993tt owners?
Cheers.........Chris

Chris, you are correct on both accounts. Prices are heading north. When I was looking 3 years ago, at any given time there were at least 50 Turbos for sale on AutoTrader and another 20-30 listed in other places. Now, that number is cut in half, and the ones available have a higher average mileage.

Your example has very low mileage.

We will show you the secret handshake when you close the deal. Not before.

This whole thread is making me seriously consider selling my 993TT. I've been going back and forth on this for months, and still can't decide.
