This ^^^

I have heard bbs' car on the service road a couple of years ago. I didn't know it was him at the time, but the sound was intoxicating.

Michael.

You should just call Darin and he can take care of you and explain how to do it.

You do not need to remove the bumpers or any bodywork to make the exchange and you don't even need to jack the car. That said, I still had my wrench do it!

I'm not in the US but I had no problem dealing with FDM. As others have said, just give Darin a call and you will work it out with part exchange. Then I had a friend of mine install them. Don't tell anyone I brought my mufflers to the US as checked baggage .

I don't think resale value is an issue. The Fisters sound way better than the OEM mufflers anyways. If you really want to keep all the stock parts to be able to reverse the muffler mod, you can just buy the Fisters outright without part exchange. You'll love them, good luck.

Viggo,

You put fisters on your Turbo R? I have never wanted to mess with the Ruf set-up on my car. I'll admit that it is quiet, but I am good with that. The mechanical sound of the engine is so sweet.

Hi Patrick,

Yes I put Fisters on my turboR. Ruf does not modify the mufflers when they perform the turboR conversion. They have their own mufflers but they are optional and does not affect HP. My Fisters were on the car before it was sent to Pfaffenhausen so the engine was rebuilt and mapped with the Fisters at the RUF plant . I also think my car is pretty subtle even with these mufflers, but it really comes alive at WOT. Like you say, mechanical and raw, it's perfect! I sounds a bit more mean now than before the conversion. It might have to do with the RUF cams being more aggressive..

Hey Brian,

I would love to be at the sound test.

Cheers,

I didn't realize that. My mufflers have RUF VIN Tags welded on them, so I assume that they are the modified mufflers.

That is great that they tuned your car to the Fisters.

I assume that you are enjoying your Turbo R!

Back in the RUF offered mufflers for the NA 993s as well. On these mufflers there was an adjustable (from inside the cabin) valve that made it possible to adjust the tone of the mufflers to the preference of the customer, pretty cool. I think that was kind of pioneering, considering that they were engineered 12 years ago..

I guess the topic of mufflers can be put to sleep now (whether or not they make a difference performance wise). At least RUF doesn't think it matters since they leave them untouched for the turboR conversion.

Speaking of the turboR conversion, I know a write-up is way overdue. But I will post one (with pics eventually).

I run fdm sport cats with the fabspeed muffler bypasses and I'm very happy with the sound.

Hey DFW, make sure to also check out the Fabspeed Sport exhaust for your Turbo. We have the modular sport cat/catbypass pipe setup and our Maxflo Sport exhaust for a nice deep and throaty sound. Here is a video that shows both setups on the car. PM me if you have any questions and if you are interested, I can offer you a nice member discount on the upgrades. Thanks to everyone for the great feedback, enjoy.
Thanks,
