Top speed stability?
I'll be the first to admit I don't drive my 993TT past 7 tenths. However, for those of you who do, how is the top speed stability on them? Is there a speed they start getting goofy?
I had my LeMons racer (a Saturn Coupe) up to 100 the other day and it made me think I was gonna die . I thought to myself, "is this really smart??"
It then occurred to me after my life was spared that the 993TT is probably like silk to a point too. Anybody got any input?
(*Standard disclaimers about obeying speed limits at all times, blah blah blah)

Below is the lift profile for the 993tt from Porsche numbers. No downforce but little lift with ~30kg lift on the rear axle at around 200mph which is pretty negligable with 950kg to play with.
To your question specifically. First time you go over 150mph GPS speed the car wanders around so much that you are terrified. 10 more runs at this speed and you can cruise at it !
Faster than 150, yup more terror and over 180 mph GPS there can be violent swaying side to side and if there is camber on the road its brown trouser time.
Do this enough times and like most things you actually get used to it and can thunder round a closed runway time after time and the car does actually stay on the road
Oh and forgot to mention, the sunroof pops open at the front at about 185mph, you can hear it on the first vid

Super cool! Thanks for posting this. What is RS Tuning? (probably a fine opportunity to stfa, but I'll ask anyway)

Looks like 993TTs with street GT2 bodywork don't tend to fly out at speed, unlike the sunroof!
This car runs on Moton suspension, it is considerably lowered however and with a good rake angle, as it should be.. 236mph in one mile.

I have pss10s on my turbo r with a pretty low ride height.
I have gone 160-180 numerous times. No drama, just wind noise. Very stable.
My car was tested over 200 on the autobahn when it was converted to a turbo r by Alois himself. That was 10 years ago, not sure it still pulls that hard, but it has to be close!

I saw indicated speedo speeds of 190+ on the front straight of the 'ring in my turboR (lowered with Roock Racing suspension). Car was moving quite a bit from side to side which was a deffo attention grabber. I was also at the vmax event when MOD500's sunroof did it's famous James Bond DB5 impersonation.

I have my car lowered significantly on PSS9 with 1000lb rear and 650lb front. It sits planted and pulls strong to 165. I've never really had it any faster only because there arent any tracks I've driven on that have enough room to, and the highway is not the place for me to find out - touched 170 once but risks are too high. But I doubt with my suspension setup it would feel much different as I found its top speed.

The indicated topspeed on a 993tt is over 300 km/h. Equipped with X50 maybe a couple of km/h more.

Yes, that was the location . This was on a Manthey Racing (non-public) sponsored day, so the entire straight was available.

I met the orginal owner of my car and he also told me that he and Alois had the "R" up to 204+mph & very stable. That Alois has a need for speed !

It sounds like a high speed autobahn run was part of the conversion package! I keep in touch with my car's orignal owner and get a new story every time.

Every car converted at P'hausen gets a final autobahn run. Just nowadays it's done by H-P Lieb. RUF euro-geared cars could see 200 mph; others wouldn't, or at least I wouldn't think they could.
