Redline is probably less important then knowing the RPM where your engine develops its peak HP, and then having the gearing (or tires) that put you spot on for the speed you want (hope) to achieve. It will take every one of Ruf's 490+ HP to see 205 mph. A 600 hp Andial may not need to be quite so concerned with finding the peak HP to see these crazy speeds.

As far as redline numbers, I seem to be able to get the Ruf Turbo R to about 7200 RPM without any bother, but I can't vouch for the accuracy of my tach.

Default Stability?

I have never had a problem at extended high speed. A pillar fairings & tape applied to critical areas helps.

Attached picture taken after a run with serious cross winds on a closed road in Nevada.
My best radar speed was 209 mph.
Most fun was a 200 run in Sacramento (Mexico) w/Alois riding shotgun.
Cheers,

R

Ruf Racer do you have the ratio of the taller Ruf 6th gear?

Do you have a link for some further info on your car i would like to read more about it if possible, it seems to be an absolute beast.

Jim, I just looked at my conversion paperwork to see if it listed a 6th gear ratio. It doesn't, it just shows:

"Turbo Getriebe ohne langer 6.-Gang". Tranlated: " Turbo Transmission with taller 6th gear". EDIT: ohne = without. So I don't have it.

I am amazed at all of the parts listed (and the cost $$) everytime I look at this receipt. Wow.

Oh! Then I don't have it. Too funny. Thanks.

But the funny thing is that the original owner told me about his 200+ mph test drive with Alois.

Makes no difference to me, really, as I will never take it to that speed.

Funny that you mention that. In looking through the papers I realized that I already replaced 6th gear. But not with the RUF 6th. 2 years ago I had the transmission fixed and upgraded when I was experiencing a 2nd gear pop out. Brian Copans installed a new 1-2 gear mainshaft, new 6th gear, and steel syncros.

Not sure how I forgot about that painful wallet experience!

Getting a roll bar may be prudent if you plan on going 150+.

Look what i found chaps when i put 200mph into the search on 6speed this morning. Check out the second post. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...0mph-club.html

0.7 it is then not a huge departure from the factory 0.75 but it up's the standard theoritical max from 199 to 214.
