Actually what I was referring to, and Quadcammer misses (note my comment 'true-to-form'), is the major (drastic) departure Porsche took on the 911 back in 1998. From compact (beetle) size vehicle of past 40 years or so, to the large body Lexus-like 911's of today (exterior and interior wise).
Btw, thats not just my humble (ignorant) view , but shared by many a Porsche factory people met over past decade!

In the name of Lexus, I was quoting some big names from Stuttgart (factory that is), who were clearly not happy with the new shape and form the 911 has taken, since their bosses - headed at the time (mid 90's) by CEO Wendelin Wiedeking - brought in some Japanese factory (believe it was Toyota) personnel to re-model the Stuttgart's mill/manufacturing process (from unit assembly, to parts allocation, etc..).
If you wana call the Cayenne a real Porsche, or the laughing stock Panamera a Porsche thats your opinion, I doubt is shared by many!
Hope is one day, especially after merger of Porsche - VW, that we will see a come back to the old style/size of pre-996 911's. May be day dreaming, yet nothing is impossible for them German geniuses!

Bantering on the above brings me back to my initials days with my first 911 out at an autocross or up at Sears Point--the 356 faction with their "real" Porsches and us pretenders/latecomers/bloated pig/luxo-cruisers with 911s.

Thanks for sharing- i loved watching that drag race and Top Gear (BBC) always does such a great job on those vignettes. Great to see the angular f40 contrasted to the rounded 911 - brings me a bit back to the 80's and maybe a bit of miami vice
Very cool.

Not sure why, but I hadn't actually ever searched for this before on you tube, but thought I'd share this old video of the Top Gear review of the 993TT, which we all love:

I'm sure many of you have already seen it. I just wished they filmed it in Midnight Blue
