don't be talked into skipping leakdown because the tech is too lazy or wants to make money on a rebuild. IMO dealers are not usally used to working on these cars anymore.
at this point I would take a pass. there are many good cars out there. as we have all heard: there are no great deals; pay now or pay later!
good luck and enjoy the search!

In fact Vinnie is rebuilding a turbo out of my country. The guy - very rich dude - has so much confidence in him that he shipped it 3000 mile there. When I say rebuilt, I mean from the bare chassis. So you r in good hands.

As Tony said, Vinnie and his staff are THE place to go for air cooled cars. He services my 993TT, 930 and 944 Turbo. All of which have been mod'd by him as well. As a matter of fact I was there this morning dropping off a car and checking on the 930 (one year, 800 mile service!!!). Feel free to pm me with any questions...

Know the previous owner. Car was traded toward an 08 997tt for 51k allowance on a short deal. Car has been loved, but well driven. Oil leaks cropped up after trading.
Are you the same as Dr Clott on Fchat who was getting the 512TR last month? And the Dino 246 replica? And this 993tt? Interesting array of purchases.

Yes I am. The 983tt is a done deal if the PPI is solid. The 512tr was only being considered because I thought the deal was too good to pass up, which F-chat helped me learn was not the case. It would have been a financial stretch to me, to say the least. But I hate passing on an incredible deal (which it wasn't). Nice driver, but not the bargain I thought it was.
The Dino is a thought now. Something to consider in the next 2 years (for a reproduction). Original Dino will likely never happen....
The Audi is going and the 993tt will be my daily driver.

Hi all,
Justice quick FYI:
I had the system manager change my username to Mattnshilp.
I don't want anyone thinking I'm showing off or conceited using the "Dr" title.
Here, I'm just one of the car guys..,

Update.
I got a call from the seller that the Porsche shop it's at (he was going to pick it up on Saturday) that changed the oil filter and some hoses found something minor with the turbo that the seller is paying to fix now. He has been very honest and is motivated to get the car to Vinnie to prove to me it's in great shape. He even started using Vinnie for some other cars he has for sale.
So a few m
