By going down to one car, you compromise on both ends. You don't have as enjoyable a weekend car, and you don't have as comfy a daily car.

I don't necessarily agree with the idea of an M3 daily and 911 weekend car.

I go huge boat thats as comfy as possible for the week, and the pure car for the weekend.

Furthermore, when you have 2 cars, you have the option of driving the "fun" car whenever you want...whether you choose not to is a personal decision.

I doubt I could ever go back to one car, but if I did, its tough to beat a 997TT
Let me first say I am not a fan of "comfy" and performance is paramount. As well, there may be some compromise but I hazard to say not much on the performance end if at all. Perhaps on the hard edge visceral front but 993guy was not likely to drive the 993TT daily so it is virtually all upside

993GUY knows me and I am lucky to have more than a few choices - none I would ever consider compromises. The 997 would be the ultimate double threat! Yo!

I disagree, and I'm a bit confused how one can not be a fan of comfortable.

Do you enjoy being uncomfortable?

The 993 is far more raw than the more touring oriented 997, regardless of performance.

Don't want to Stray, but whey read "comfy" i don't read "comfortable"per se; i read more plush, which many want in a DD. And i of course like comfortable but define comfortable as a firm and controlled ride in all regards. FWIW, I would drive a 993TT as a DD(again, Eric knows my cars and my snow DD and other DDs)

A 997TT can get pretty close to a ***** out performance car with the proper tweaking and still be comfortable and really not "touring" IMHO

You have that opportunity with a properly set up 997.

Why compromise on the bulk of your driving? That is not a rational tradeoff in my book - especially considering you are sacrificing a few weekend blasts when you can have BOTH a daily blast and a weekend warrior - in one car.
+1. What's the point of a 993TT if you don't even drive it on the weekends? Sharing your car fun with your family seems to be a priority and seemingly that's hard to do with the 993TT. In your situation, your idea to consolidate to a 997TT makes perfect sense.

You obviously know that the value of the others will head south pretty fast. Have you considered replacing the M3 with a 996TT. These offer amazing value right now and are really quite nice in many respects. This would also allow you to keep your 993 if you are still really fond of it.
That is what I did. Best of both worlds. 996TT's are very reasonably priced right now and are a dream to drive every day. Going through my first winter with mine right now but drove a 996C4S through the previous 2 winters. They're great in the snow. Allows me to keep the 993TT for special drives when the weather is proper for her.

LOL...I guess it does technically make me 997 guy but truth is, I'll always be an air cooled guy.

No regrets on selling the 993TT...great car passed to a great friend. Still get to visit and drive it on occasion. I'm a normally aspirated fan at the end of the day...

keep it. SEll the M3. I sometimes think about selling mine. THen it changes quickly.

The other day I was speaking to a gentleman that was cleaning a 2011 Turbo S (Brown/Brown/Yellow... Beautiful) at the shop where my car is. he had also just gotten out of a 2010 GT3rs. Long story short... The guy offered up to me some advice. He Said " You know sir, These cars (turbo S and GT3rs) are nice. They look flashy and classy. But, Everywhere you go, everybody have them (spanish accent). Your car, Its like a super model that no where you go you see another. Too Much rare. I like it the best. Don't sell your car."

So it seems now 2 yrs later the price of a 997TT is on par with the 993TT.

Close...premium 993TT's are in 997TT money but not en masse yet.

That being said, the 993's will soon be worth more...nature of supply and demand.
