Default gt2 engine mid engine

hi guys

has anybody used the 993 turbo or gt2 engine in a mid engine layout. im going to turn the engine around in our tube frame gt2 race car, to make it mid engined. i wondered if there are any issues with oil delivery or surge etc etc running the motor the wrong way around in the car. any ideas?

thanks mark

Dave Kylm of Fabcar engineering built a mid engine 911 that I seem to recall ran in SCCA. You might try a search or contact Fabcar.

thanks ill try fabcar.
i know all the examples of mid engined porsches, that doesnt tell me if i need to change any oil pick ups etc. i know porsche run mid engine cars but did they change anything internally? the pick ups in boxsters are different to 996s. i will speak to fabcar

Dry-sumped engines should not require any changes for different locations. How about some info on your project?

Link not working.
Say! If you turn the engine around, won't you have 6 reverse gears and one forward?
Like Oddball's tank in Kelley's Heros.

Scott if you didn't figure that out as soon as you wrote it...the ring and pinion gear are flipped on
the opposing side of the differential I believe and viola, six forward one reverse!
Big 928 sounds like an awesome project lets get that link! thanks Bert

sorry im got someone to add the link for me, ill get them to add it again later. hopefully it will work this time. i havent stripped the gearbox yet but the idea was to turn the ring and diff around, theres not as much room as on say a 915 box though for the ring to sit in the 'wrong' side. the casing looks smaller on the one side to the other. may have to run the box upside down?
