Default Winter project came early, cosmoline removal

I just became the proud owner of a Arena Red 993tt, that I received from a fellow in Quebec. It has approximately 32,000 km on it. It went into hibernation as soon as I got it. I decided to clean up the underside a little and this is as far as I got this weekend.

I tried everything I could think of. Wire brush, steel wool, diesel, paint remover, lacquer thinners and scrapers. It was messy and tedious, but most of it is off. Now off to the front.

SATISFACTION
As complicated as these cars are, the only things I can do competently are clean and wax

That is soooo clean, you could eat your dinner off that now! Given you live in a land of harsh extremes, what are you planning to replace the cosmoline with as a protective layer?

There is no plan to replace the cosmoline. I am only going to drive during the summer months and every winter I will do a light clean. I think after the initial cosmoline removal, the others will be less time consuming.

I reckon that looks pretty good. I also did the same and used the same solvents. Time consuming but in a weird way it was fun.
I used a battery drill with a wire brush to get most of it off.
Nice job.

Yep, that is the direction I am heading. I got an early start and hopefully by the spring it will be finished.
