4 years ago when I was looking for my car he had this car for sale for 80k. I was in LA about an hour from Malibu and asked if he would meet me half way to view the car...he was not cooperative

I wouldn't do that either, I've always figured a serious buyer would be willing to come to the car. Interested in what others think though, as I may be a jerk.

I can see both sides of this example. And we know you are not a "jerk". I am pretty sure, if you were selling your car, and a Rennlister wanted to see it, you'd drive out to meet him/her, especially half-way, if not the entire distance.

Turbodan offered to meet the seller half-way. That's very fair.

As in most cases, you are not only buying the product, but also the seller.

I don`t think I would either. but at the time I was in town for couple days and very short on time; I told him I was going to buy one, had the cash and was on the hunt. It was not that he wouldn`t meet me but his attittude that set me off. For the car that I bought, I took a plane to check it out...makes this story ironic.

I was intersted in one of his cars but he turned me off because he thought I was asking too many questions. I bought an Arizona car about a month later. He appears to be his own enemy.

Four reasons;
1. exterior color, a very hard sell
2. interior is another turn off
3. seller's attitude
4. price is still 5-9k too high for that combo in a buyer's market. when it hit's 59k it might sell

I do think that people tend to underestimate the impact of colors on value. While I know that every color has a fan somewhere, the reality is that the popular colors are more valuable because they are easier to sell. If I have to search the globe to find the guy who is looking for my wierd car, I'm going to consider that search cost when deciding how to value it. So even If I personally think a weird color is as good as a normal color, I should still expect a discount when buying the weird color. In fact, I should even value it less to the extent that I think I am ever going to sell it.

I say that, with bias, as a guy who only has ever owned silver and black cars.

Sorry for the necrobump folks - I have a car listed and am currently in the process of dealing with this gent. He is the buyer. The price Im receiving is fair and so far I've had no issues - if you can PM me any details or issues you've had as a seller, much appreciated... I'm rather new to the forum but have lurked for years - finding this thread was worrying, to say the least. I don't want to get scammed :-/

So far he's been fair and without issue. No money has exchanged hands.

Thanks for the expertise and any further info, AD

Apparently Wald had a suit against TruSpeed in 2010 for non-payment of services provided (as a middle man, locating cars for them).
