Default Looking for mechanic in Kansas?

Hi All,

Was told that some peeps in here might know a good mechanic in or near Kansas City? Looking to get a PPI on a air-cooled.

Thanks in advance.

I only use John Clark in Raytown - 816-356-2639. He is a true perfectionist and will leave no stone unturned!

Good Luck!

Amdy, that's the name you were looking for. It will be more than $200 FYI.

A comprehensive PPI does not cost, it pays!

Anyone know DENNIS MOORE, Master Tech. from Aristocrat Porsche in Merriam, Kansas? Looks like he has a lot of credentials and is the one who has serviced the vehicle I am interested in purchasing.

Is it recommended to have the PPI done at another mechanic than where a car has been serviced at?

I know some sellers feel that their mechanic is the best person to do the job and get insulted when asked to take the vehicle to someone else.

Any opinions?

I don't know him.

Personally, I don't know why a credible seller would be concerned about your going to an independent mechanic to check out your prospective purchase. I do know that a number of people on Rennlist have used Clark and have been more that satisfied with the results. This is not to suggest that there are not other competent wrenches in the area.

Finally, don't worry about insulting the seller, he should be more concerned about insulting you!

Good Luck!

You are correct. I made my statement because Amdy had referenced doing a PPI on another car for about $200, and the PPI proved it was a car to pass on.

sometimes a PPI from an excellent wrench will only cost that much because he/she finds a showstopper before (for instance) doing the leakdown/compression test. Agreed, the full one should cost more.

Amdy,
If the car is local I can stop by and take a look at it for you over the weekend. The current owner can also stop by for breakfast Saturday morning and meet the other PCA locals.

Default PPI

Hi Fred,

That's super nice of you to offer!! I would be buying this car "site unseen" so an extra set of eyes would be most appreciated. This is his zip code, hopefully it's close by?

64152

Let me know if it's too far. Great of you to offer.
