Default Kinesis K-18 wheel replacement parts

I'll make a long story short.

I have a set of K-18 Kinesis wheels I purchased in June of 2006. On the right rear wheel one of the fasteners that holds the rim to the center section is missing.

I called Kinesis, now part of Lexani/Asanti. I was told the bolts used on the current generation of Kinesis wheels use a different bolt, the primary difference being the head of the fastener and the tool used to tighten it. I was told if I wanted to replicate the original fastener I would have to source it on the internet.

Can anyone provide any guidance as to a source for 2006 vintage Kinesis wheel fasteners?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Jim- thanks for the referral. During my search I contacted Wheel Enhancement. They were one of Kinesis largest distributors before the acquisition of Kinesis by Lexani. They also referred me to Thatcher. I have spoken with him and we are in the process of exchanging information to see if he can provide NOS fasteners for my wheel.

While surfing:
http://bimecc-usa.com/main/index.php...index&cPath=39

Edit: It just dawned on me...
Back in 2005, I refinished my Kinesis K28 wheels at Kinesis Motorsports.
From my invoice, these are the descriptions:

Item/Description/Qty

BK450/12PT HD Bolt 6x30 BNIC (Min. 13 micron)/160
BK451/M6 Assembly nut/160

Edit 2: 2nd dawning...
Refinishing of my wheeks was handled by Alan Baylis (he's a member here) when he was with Kinesis Motorsports. It appears he's now with the "new" Fikse. Maybe you can PM him here.

Those appear to be the same bolts on the K28s I have.
I went looking for a bolt or two just in case a year or so ago... followed the same path you are on and gave up.

The link canysmc posted looks very promising!

I am probably going to sell my K28s since I recently bought a set of Fikse wheels... otherwise I'd be checking that supplier

EDIT: hmm... after canysmc's edited post, looks like maybe that supplier doesn't have the 6x30.

Google yielded little...

Closest I found is 6x32

Edit: I'm starting to think that "6x30" either doesn't exsist or was a typo on my invoice or it was custom made for Kinesis...

Thanks everyone for the time and effort digging up the info you shared.

Unfortunately Thatcher was unable to help me. Based on canysmc's input I will contact Alan Baylis for some guidance.

Armed with the bolt and nut description I will make another pass at the Lexani parts department as well. I do have the option of sending the entire wheel back to Lexani for repair but I am not too enthusiastic based on my experience to date.

The saga continues...
