My stupid question of the week : Can the intercoolers be relocated?
Ok,
this is probably the dumbest post I have ever made (there will be more... I can guarantee !)....
But,
can a 993 Turbo be modified to remove the rear spoiler and just end up with the stock 993 rear ?
what would it take? where could parts be relocated ?
what else would be involved ?
how stupid of an idea is this ? (besides the obvious purist issue...which I can overcome with Jack Daniels)
lol...

Anything is possible with enough money.
With muffler bypasses, you could do a ruf style rear bumper with the cutouts and do two sidemounts for each turbo like the newer cars.
You'd really need to squeeze the intake tube from the throttle body down to the wells somehow, but its doable.
What you'd do with the airbox, I don't know.
Personally, I love the whale tail.

I have a single turbo car that I am starting to collect parts for. One of the goals is to run it without a whale tail. I prefer the flat rear deck look. Hopefully I can have a custom I/C built...

Very interesting.... some people dont like the whale tale - I do think it is very imposing (ie cool)... but I prefer more of a sleeper look... and I think the lines of the sloping 911 back are gorgeous unmarred.
Any other suggestions ? insights?

Do you have any info or know where to go about getting info on this ?
(I bet if Curvelover was into whale-tail-less 993 turbos...we'd have an answer in 3.9 seconds !

slight correction...Princeton did not "...have this done..."...he did it himself! an amazing self-fab project considering he is not a professional! And it was not to get rid of the spoiler...the car was a NA 993 to begin with and he fabbed and engineered the turbo system and body mods.

I'll try to find the information. It might have been in Adrian's book. I think the conversion was done by Ruf.

SO...... possible ?
what I am wondering if one could retain a stock C4S look and still have the turbo plumbing all repositioned (I know...not a lot of room to play).
Can anyone (who has posted..or viewed this thread) - comment to that effect?
