Default Does anyone know this Porsche?

I came across this add tonight as I am searching for a 993 TT. Too good to be true? Is it just because of the odd color?

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...05%26rn%3D0%26

Thanks
Steve

It's been around Cars.com for some time. I look frequently. I don't know how many times I've gone back and looked at this one.

Rebuilt transmission at 60,000mi? Sounds like it has been driven very hard to necessitate a rebuild at this mileage. I would be very cautious. You can find much better examples out there in this market. GL!

That's a lot of car for 44k, looks good to me. All the mods I would do, except the quad exhaust. The tranny being rebuilt at 60k only means the car was well maintained, I believe they changed the synchros material in later G50 trannies anway, probably just wore out.

Isn't it the case that the 1996 models had a weaker trans and the 1997 cars were fitted with a stronger unit? Possibly the mods produce enough power to do in the 96 unit. Just guessing though.

The thing that scares me the most is that I watched this car sell on Ebay about a month back and now I see it still for sale. Hmmmm.....

Attractive price. Nice car. I would just ask some questions about transmission, but would not be scared off by it. I repaired and upgraded mine recently and it is a better car for it.

Default What about the wheels?

Do you folks feel the 19" wheels are a drawback?

Seems the general consensus is that 993 TT don't drive so well with 19's. I have never driven one so only have your opinions to go by.

I reckon the cars colour is brilliant, it's the wheels that turn me off.
Who cares if the tranny has had a rebuild? Thats just a good thing if you ask me.

Mike, aren't yours black?
Yours look much better than the polished spokes on the car in question, IMHO.
The polished look too blingy to my eye.

Exactly my thoughts. Didn't mean to be critical of your wheels. The color makes all of the difference!
