Wow, i'm shocked to see Canepa flipping salvage cars. It's a ****ty thing to do and all, but I can't even imagine those guys being hard up for cash.
I guess they will be when this news gets around. Might wanna call PCA and talk to them about giving this guy ad space if he is ripping people off...

Im not shocked. That guy always pretended like his stuff was better than the rest and now we realize he wasnt playing fair.
i would imagine California DMV pulls his license and they shut him down.
what a big mistake just for small dollars.
thanks for coming, dont let the door hit you on the way out. atleast maybe he wont hurt other buyers with less ability to stomach thievery.

by the way we should all call canepe and ask about a car etc waste his time then say oops doing research on you while on the phone what is this salvage issue? I would not buy until it was corrected or deal with someone that would do something like this. he might change his mind and deal with the problem if he feels he is losing sales.

1996 Porsche 993 Turbo — SOLD
Chassis No.: WPOAC2999TS375404
Miles: 2670
REQUEST A printable PDF document with Photos
The fastest accelerating and braking production car in the world in 1996!
Last of the air cooled Porsches
This Turbo has only been driven 2670 miles in the past thirteen years! It was special ordered in “paint to match” Polar Silver, with FULL black leather interior, sunroof, and “werks” center console. The first owner kept the car for three years driving it a little over 800 miles a year. He only drove it for pleasure, never in bad weather, always kept it garaged, and had all the scheduled service performed. Because of its great condition and exceptionally low miles the second owner purchased the car for his private collection with the intention of keeping the car just as it was and not adding any more miles. It has only been driven 500 in the past year and is in NEW condition.
993 Turbo Background
The 993 Turbo featured a new turbocharged engine displacing 3.6 liters. Twin turbochargers and air-to-air intercoolers, electronic engine management, redesigned cylinder heads and other modified engine internals. The electronic engine management helped the Turbo to achieve fuel efficiency far superior to any of the previous production Turbos. In connection with two catalytic converters and an on-board-diagnostics-system including four oxygen-sensors, it also made the 993 Turbo the cleanest. The Turbo's bodywork differs from the Carrera body by widened rear wheel arches (approximately 6 cm), redesigned front and rear bumpers, and a fixed rear wing housing the intercoolers. New 18-inch alloy wheels with weight-reducing hollow spokes were fitted. One of the changes in the 993 over preceding 911s is the implementation of an all-alloy multi-arm rear suspension attached to an all-alloy subframe creating the best handling Porsche to date.
The 993 turbo was the fastest production car in the world when it was produced as well as the fastest stopping; 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds, and stopping from 60 mph (97 km/h) to 0 in 2.3 seconds! 3741 cars were produced in 1996 with only 1357 imported to the US and Canada.

Horizontally opposed 6-cylinder; SOHC, 2 valves per cylinder; lightweight aluminum-alloy block, heads and pistons

I would also stop discussing this in public. You are just making the case for the seller. You clearly haven't talked to a lawyer.
Frankly, you buy a 2k mile 993TT for 80k with an unmarked title, who says it's not worth 80k? Just need to find a buyer .... And that definitely won't be someone that reads rennlist now.

So what exactly is wrong with the car?
Bottom line, you got slickered by a slimeball used car salesman. You've got to do your due diligence when buying these, now 12-13 yr old cars. To not do a PPI(or even a carfax) may not be criminal, but it is foolish. You know that now. The dealer is likely to come back and say you knew it was in an accident, and that's why he sold a 2k 993tt for 80k instead of the 100k+ market value on such a car. This may be problematic for you.
On your side, if you can show intent to defraud over state lines by washing the title in Utah, etc you might have a case.
The best scenario for all involved would be for the dealer to take the car back and refund you the selling price, thus stopping the negative press, admit his error and sell the car at a reasonable price. Hell, I might buy it for 50k, turn it into a track *****.
GL either way.

really sorry ot hear about your situation. would think dealing with cars at this cost level might be different.
i am certainly no attorney, but in my profession, one is held to the standard of his professioanl colleagues as a metric for any potential wrongdoing.
if that is the 'legal' case for car salesmen...you could be in trouble since I would have to say imo, the public as a whole does not believe what a car salesman says as being true...therefore, the 'standard' is they lie...unfortunately...and more diligence should have been done on your part.

I read a bunch of NYC123's posts on this site and others. Seems like he has a laundry list of great cars, so im sure he's just upset over having been cheated. I would imagine noone likes losing monies being schnookered, yet, perhaps he's doing the retail and wholesale market a favor by exposing Canepa's fraudulent actions.
Doesnt seem like NYC123's motivated by money. I like that! Im glad he's brought this to the surface. lots of lessons, #1 of which is AVOID CANEPA like the plague.

This is not going to help you, buddy!! Caveat emptor!

Bad situation... good luck with the fight. I suspect you will win.
I can understand not doing the homework on a car of this (alleged) caliber at a dealer/shop with a big name and well above average reputation. I'd had thought they were above these sort of shenanigans.
I am learning from your mistake... thank you for that.
