Default Seats are DONE!

These are the seats I got from Matt a while back. I had been holding out for a set of grey seats and I was really hoping that I would be happy with the color match. I wasn’t

I tried Surflex. It has been great on my steering wheel, but despite my best efforts, it was not working on the seats. It started to peel almost immediately and it also made the seat seem much hotter to sit in.

So, I finally bit the bullet and had them recovered. Had a local shop do them and I could not be happier. I got the idea for the French seam down the middle of the cushions and the perfed leather from a picture of another seat (RS maybe?) here on Renn. I really think it gives it a nice look. The crests are silver hood items. They match the airbag crest nicely. I took the location into consideration. I don’t think they’ll end up in the front of my skull if I get rear-ended. If they do…it will have been worth it. They look awesome!

Jen got the CF hoops for me for Christmas from Design 911. I was going to have Marcus do them. I showed her a pic from Design’s website and she went ahead and got them for me. I’ll have to get her a vacuum or something!

So now that the interior is done…I’ll probably have to get blinds for the house or something. Actually, I do think the car is done now. I’ve put a silver crest on the hood and put the “turbo” centers back on the wheels. Now I just need to get the courage up to drive it.

Thanks to all that participated in my color poll. I really love the red seatbacks a lot more than I thought I would.

Awesome...well done...looks GREAT

Would you have some pictures of the area behind the seats? It seems like it is a rear seat delete (sort of)

Looks awesome. Just the perfect amount of aluminum and CF throughout.

I recovered some panels I got from LA Auto Dismantlers. I was going for a (ahem) sophisticated RS look.

Turned out beautiful!

Which sliders and side brackets did you use for the install?

Tom,

That is a GREAT look. It all fits together perfectly. Awesome job.

It was great to meet you out here. Say hi to Jen... and we'll keep the smoke-detector story to ourselves!

I used Recaro Sliders (no drilling) and BK brackets. I was not getting enough recline out of the brackets, so I took them to a machine shop and they made a set I could bolt to the originals. I did this so I wouldn't have to have the seatbelt mount rewelded.

Thanks again for making the trip out, Steve. I look at those pics of Ruffus ALL the time. Look forward to seeing you again.

BTW, we just call them TIMERS now

md11plt:

Have a look at this pic for the routing of the stock seatbelt on the door/sill side, this is how its mounted at the factory when GT3 seats are ordered (car in pic is a Cayman, however, routing of the setbelt is the same for the 911):

They are GT3 seats. I don't know how much help I can be on the sliders. I got them from Viper Bob.

Boost gage. Yea, thanks. crap

Tried it both ways and I like this way a lot better. I noticed in several of the British mags that some of the European tuners run them this way

Thanks for all the kind words. All of you set the bar so high, I always feel like the stuff I do is barely noticeable.
