Default Help with Brake Pads

I used the search function for brake pads and came up with 88 pages of threads and nothing in the first 7 pages about brake pads. Sigh.

Conventional wisdom on the board regarding brake pads and where to buy them.

I have little patience for the big squeal one gets from racing pads (plus wife won't ride in car). What are some good aftermarket pads that offer OEM performance or better and do so quietly.

Also, what online sources are best bets for good pricing on parts.

Thanks for your help, sorry I'm so lame with the search function.

I buy all my pads from raceshopper.com as they have good prices and always are in stock. Been using them for years

I also use Ferudo DS2500's in all my street cars but some people claim they are loud although I have not found that. They are certainly an aggressive street pad thats for sure but it sounds like your looking for something closer to stock.

Personally I only use hawk DTC70's on my tt, mostly bc I'm too lazy to change them imbetween track days and they are actually very quiet as long as you don't run them in cold weather. Not good for the rotors though (oh well)

I have had the best luck with Textars (factory pads) from the dealer. Try Sunset Imports in Oregon.

Yikes pagid oranges are LOUD squeakers, did you have those on the street? Those are an ok track pad if your tt stock but a no no for a street pad. Street pad would be the pagid blues, although i don't like those pads after driving on them for a year.

When used agressively on the track the Pagid Orange leave deposits on the rotors causing brake shudder. I use pagid yellows up front (they are an endurance pad made of a longer lasting compound, and can squeal as a result. I use pagid Black in the rear as they have a little more grab. I would imagine black all around would be a great setup for street.

I have the black all around, but I have not tested them yet. After this week end I will know more.

Yellows all around here. If they start squealing just do a couple high g stops. Blacks are nice but for me only lasted about 1/2 as long as yellows.

I am runing Blacks all round - but am also running slotted rotors.

I they are SO much better on slottted rather than cross drilled for squeal factor - I actually NEVER run stock pads - but then again i hardly drive on the street - and break squeal is the LEAST of my noise worries

Simon.

I put them on at the end of season for track. I don't drive on street very much. and yes loud but can barely hear w/ my bypass.
spring I will put them on and swap for track.
btw the orange are awesome on track

Anyone have experience with Porterfield RS4 as a street/track hybrid pad for our Turbos?

Regarding the Pagid Orange, they are great, but i understand they are very rough on rotors.

Textars are really good and quiet but do make a little dust for sure.
