Default Outstanding Service!

Just got my car back from Schneider Autohaus in Santa Barbara, CA. They had it about a year ago for a top end rebuild and fresh clutch. At the last oil change I found some scary looking metal chunks on the magnetic drain plug, so I put them in an envelope and mailed it to Schneider(they're 100 miles away). They called as soon as they got it and had me bring it in immediately to replace what appeared to be a broken lifter. This is a very busy place, so they had to shunt a lot of work aside to get me right in. They discovered that one exhaust lifter had failed, but luckily hadn't taken anything else with it. All the lifters were replaced with new during the rebuild, so even though it had been a year and 10K miles, they once again replaced all the lifters and buttoned it back up all for free! Assumed full responsibility for a failed Porsche part and even detailed the car, before getting it back to me promptly. Thanks to Henry and Paula, you've got a customer for life.

Don,

You may be aware that "Droops" is a Rennlist poster and works at Schneider Autohaus. He has been very helpful on a number of technical issues. They sound like a great bunch, but now I'm moving up to Santa Cruz, and have to find a decent wrench up there. Anybody have a recommendation?

It is always great to hear about outstanding customer service. Too often we only use a forum like this to complain.

911/Q45, can you say (or send me a PM) what you were charged last year for the top end and clutch? Thanks.

Steve-Really Mean Garage in Sunnyvale
NoH20-I supplied many parts and had other things done too, so my $18K bill really isn't representative.

Thanks for the tip to realmeangarage. Sunnyvale is not that far from Santa Cruz. I'll give them a shot at Rufus, next time something is needed. Oh hell, who am I kidding... I have my RS mounts in the back seat, and I still have my intermittent CEL code 1140. There's always something....

Steve, Not only is Sunnyvale not far away, it's a very good RUF drive over Highway 17 ... and Bobby will get you squared away.

Don between your Andial engine rebuilt and your topend overhaul, how many miles did you have on the engine?

About 40K. Heads had not been welded so they were leaking compression. Henry spotted it when swapping out the clutch, fortunately before damage occurred. They're welded now and I remember you told me so!
