Jon
I had the cold weather/high air mass cut out thing myself on a fixed boost iteration I once had on the 993tt so have seen it first hand and it is obvious why it happens when one watches proper Motronic controlling the boost. Even on this latest engine in the GT2 I can see that I am getting lower max boost today at 5.5degC it is giving 1.3bar max(compared to 1.4 when it was a little warmer)

As far as the way FS are doing the "tuning" it seems to me that they have base maps for various set ups (which come from various sources like RS, maybe TTP/Gunther and others who have spent the R&D developing the packages) which are available on a grey market for people who do this sort of thing.....

They load up the "nearest" software then check the obvious stuff on the road to make sure it drives (to an extent) then sign it off.... obviously the problems can come when the air mass changes and the map is not 100% correct.

You may remember I ran my 522hp twin plug RS engine with a set of Stage 3 K16s and the mapping which was done for K24/26RS turbos and it ran absolutely fine, no flat spots, perfect, just 50hp down - so it seems these engines will run with almost "any old" program, the secret is getting everything spot on for the components used and to do that seems to take the proper tools and ability to use them.....

Here is the engine dyno test for my engine with the K16 Stage 3 on board and mapping for K24/26RS.
Full spec for engine dyno plot:

3.6 l
EVO heads, twin plug, sealing etc
RS 3.8 cams
2 fuel pumps
Carrillos
LWFW
big cats & exhaust
Stock I/C
K16 stage 3
Programming for K24/26RS

You can see that the ECU hits its IAT targets and then controls the power all the way to the limiter - the K16s blew hotter air than the K24/26RS so limited the output to 470PS/670NM
This was a control test pre any work, RS reckoned on being able to get nearer 500PS with specific programming - so you can see how futile bolting a generic program in and tuning on road seems (IMO anyway )

BTW with the above curve, the car felt bloody fast and very responsive (K16s) and is why I always tell people that a 993tt with REAL 470hp is a weapon and really all you need -well 470hp from 5000rpm to 7000rpm anyway

I have access to an RS Tuning ECU, not sure what package it was originally for but i tried it on my car when i was having the overboost problems and it controled the boost better than the Fearnsport map, i haven't tried it since i fitted the new actuators and MAF sensor but it may be worth another try now that i know everything works properly. I did a back to back 60-130mph runs with both and the RS ECU gave me a 7.6 second and the Feansport 7.53. It may be worth seeing what it does now

Mid 7.0 sec 60-130 speaks to a lot more than 500 HP probably closer to 600 HP, what is the rest of the package.

The engine is in a 930, i guess it's a lot down to weight, plus i only have to make 1 shift as i'm on the old 4 speed box
