The valve is a 996 part but the lines are bespoke to the 993. UMW sells a kit as does FVD and I think cargraphic as well.

I doubt it. You can order through fvd's website or via phone/email from UMW.

Gary11, Powermarques are FVD dealers:
E-Mail: powermarques@ntlworld.com

The symptoms you quote are exactly what I have experienced, I have been off line for a few weeks now, but reading the thread rings so true with my own experience, I won't get a chance to do naything for a month or so due to work commitments so if you fit the check valve kit, post an update so we know how you've got on. Thumbs up mcgeordie

No worries ,
will do will order from Kevin due to be fitted beginning of March more expensive than I thought about $400 for the lines need it sorted for annual Le Mans excursion, cant have the smoke down there!
Autostrasse told me about one car in particular had fresh engine and turbos and still smokes they reckon only option is to drain turbos every month or two, just leave plugs out for a day ,some people say they have left plugs out for three or more days and have had a couple of litres, ive only had a bit since I reduced oil level, any excess amounts I would say are syphoning from the tank as the sumps are only small only a small amount in intercooler too but pulls boost, not a happy thing! excellent help and advice on here though!

I just don't get it?? If you have more than 4 oz in the turbocharger drip tanks then you have a faulty oil filter.. I don't care if you have spun on a brand new Porsche unit, it has failed. Either your wrench has crushed it or it's spun on to tight. The oil check valve kit will not cure a FAILED oil filter..

Guys
You do know that there is a short tube in the oil pipe that you are meant to pull out when you fill it up with oil!!!!!!!!1

and it saves on the mess!

No kev my car only has a small amount of oil in the turbo sumps and a slight amount in the inter cooler,on my second set of genuine filters fitted the exactly as described on here in my own workshops all has been well for a couple of months but now after a hi speed run on first start up am getting smoke again, when I remove sumps I will get a couple of oz's out of each turbo, autostrasse tell me it is a generic fault and will continue to leak/smoke after lines filters ect are fitted,as I quoted earlier they have one with fresh engine and turbos and it still smokes every month or so,it seems to affect more than not, after your reply re new lines old turbos Im unsure what to do if the filters fail in service perhaps they do need changing again, have done 2k since last change, thanks for your help I do appreciate your replies.

The valves seal to the turbos with a crush washer on a surface that's horizontal when installed. The sealing surface is exposed to the elements when the factory lines are used and I think you can expect the surface to be pitted or worse after 10+ years so the washers may not seal. Someone else here had this issue (https://rennlist.com/forums/993-turbo-forum/346214-oil-line-check-valves.html) and it's not specific to the UMW kit as they all apeear to use the same valve and sealing method.

Put the check valves in, had the same problem with mine and it was diving me crazy. Tried all the advise, too full, wrong oil, it's normal etc..... Checkvalves fixed it 100% and the performance went back to original now that my o2 sensors and intake etc were not covered in oil.

Default More Info

Gary - The kit was $480 usd. I had the work done @ Munks Motors they do many PCA events local, and Chris is fantastic. http://www.munks.com

kit was from Turbo Kraft

They charged 6.4 hours labor in on the line install.

I hope this is helpful. The did NOT replace O2 censors, they felt the would burn clean and did. Tons of oil needed to be cleaned out of the system. It ran a TON better and much faster when I got it back...
