Default 993 turbo much posted problem!

Hi chaps had and done all the usual things re the smoke issues with my TT its not overfull have changed filters and I have to say is OK,but if I drive it normaly no smoke all perfect, but if Ive been driving it properly using the Turbos for a few miles, when Im driving its perfect but am getting a lot of smoke on startup after a spirited drive, the next time I go to use its OK and does not do it every single time,it also imo does not show 0.8 bar every time you drive it hard through the gears sort of goes to 0.5 then you have to ring it out to get to the 0.8 limit, but does get there.
could the smoke be due to the syphon effect still (no non return valves to oil feeds on turbos)or with the reluctance to reach full boost be worn turbos,it does not smoke at all under any driving condition, overrun lift off ect,any opinions would be appreciated, cheers

You need to put the check valves in. This was the cure for me and TONS of other people. These turbos are way over oiled. Once I put the check valve kit in there has not been an ounce of smoke. UMW sells the kit. When the car sits the oil backs up into the turbo housing and on start-up it gets washed up into the intercooler and intake.... You will have to clean all of that out. Also when the oil is going through the intake it's cutting down on your octane rating.. becareful you can detonate the motor.

On a related note, I found it was really difficult to get oil into the car....the filler pipe is narrow and it ended up overflowing and oil pooled at the top without just flowing down. left a nice stain on the driveway! I would say the oil level sender is faulty but its been recently replaced and shows 1/4 full when hot. As for the dip stick....that's also a pain to get in and out....the oil is so clean, it difficult to tell where it is on the stick. Is this the normal experience?

Taj.

Thanks guys.....real slow is an understatement....I have now spilled oil twice....and I don't usually make the same mistake twice....3rd time lucky i think....

compared to my old 964, the oil fill is really slow....there must be a difference is design.

I'm sure that you are aware that the car must be running while filling oil.

I strongly suggest running the oil level just above the first line..

So tried again last night, just enough to get the gauge into the 3/4 level at idle....literally had to dribble the oil in very slowly and had no overflow....Success!!!

I also have check valves and have seen no smoke. I have seen some oil in the intercooler though....

As an aside, I am running 5W30 fully synthetic long life oil...any views on this?

Kevin, My oil gauge has no marls on it, just a red portion, a white sweeping arc, and then another red....my level is 3/4 up the white arc.

cheers.
